Tips for Numerical Questions
YOU WANT TO PASS BOE
EXAMINATION?

YOU MUST LEARN

UNITS THOROUGHLY
Tips for Numerical

Must remember the SI units for all physical

quantities and their conversion from MKS
system

Do not miss to write the units in each step

If you are considering a standard value for

any particular measurement that is not given;
do write “Assuming the value of ……….”

Use kPa (kN/ m2) for pressure unit in

calculation if there is kJ, or kW in the equation

Do remember to consider temperature in K

while using in a gas equation unless it is ∆T
Tips for Numerical

Have a clear concept of the relations between

kmol, mass and volume of gases

If gauge pressure is given, then convert it in to

absolute in calculation, unless it is bursting
pressure

Don’t get flustered with a long problem; these

are usually easier to solve

First note what is to be found, then see what

are given
Solve the short and long questions asked in
paper 2 of EM-EA examination for last three
years
Tips for Theory Questions
Tips for Theory Questions

Prepare the answer to questions asked in last 3

– 4 years BOE papers

DO NOT write large paragraphs. Write only the

relevant points with bullets, or sr. number as
we do in a ppt presentation.

Decide number of points to be given on the

basis of marks allotted to the question

Try to add a diagram wherever possible

Do not leave any question unanswered. Try to

write something using your common sense
Tips for Theory Questions

Try to write in clear and legible handwriting
