OF COMMUNICATION
Communication is the process of conveying
information between two or more people.

COMMUNICATION PROCESS is the steps we


take that helps us to achieve effective and
successful communication.
COMMUNICATION PROCESS
1. SOURCE
He is the originator of the message.
Also known as the sender of the information
He initiates the communication process
He is also be called as the SPEAKER who delivers
his message to the receiver or to the listener.
2. MESSAGE
It is the idea, concept or emotion that a person
desires to share with another person.
It can either be verbal, non-verbal or written.
3. RECEIVER
He gets the message channeled by the source
of information
He is also be called as the LISTENER who makes sense
of what is said and reacts to it
By clapping
Nodding the head
Replying
Asking a return question
Following the speaker
Falling asleep
Walking out
4. CHANNEL
It is the means or medium of communication
A concrete example for this is the language that we
use in order to transmit our message to the receiver
or listener.
5. RESPONSE
It is the only way the speaker knows that the message
has been received.
It is based on Interpretation of the Message by the
Listener.
6. FEEDBACK
It is an integral part of human communication
process that allows the speaker to monitor the
process
Also called “RETURN SIGNALS”
7. NOISE
It is any interference in the communication process
It is the barrier in an effective communication process
TYPES OF NOISE IN COMMUNICATION
1. Physical Noise
 It is an interference that is external to both speaker and listener
 It hinders the physical transmission of the signal or message

2. Physiological Noise
 It is created by barriers within the sender or receiver
 It is a challenge by both the speaker and the listener respectively

3. Psychological Noise
 It is the mental interference in the speaker or the listener
Examples are:
 Preconceived ideas

Wandering thoughts

Sarcasm
 Preconceived ideas
 It is when other people think that they already
know something.
They include biases, prejudices, and closed-
mindedness

Wandering thoughts
Instances wherein listener may be distracted
and have difficulties keeping up with the
speaker.
SEMANTIC NOISE
o It occurs when the speaker and listener have different
meaning systems
o In other words, when people came from different
background, different culture and have different language

o JARGON can be a form of semantic noise.
