Abstract

 There are many possibilities a fire can start in an industry or in any remote
area.

 Robotics is the emerging solution to protect human lives and their wealth
and surroundings. The aim here is to design a Fire Detector And
Extinguisher Robot using RASPBERRY PI 3 MODEL B Microcontroller .

 This project will help to generate interests as well as innovations in the

fields of robotics while working towards a practical and obtainable solution
to save lives and mitigate the risk of property damage.

 It can also be operated remotely by any individual from anyplace on the

planet using mobile phone or a laptop.
Introduction

 Our task was to design and build a prototype system that could
autonomously detect and extinguish a fire. Fire extinguishing is a very
difficult task for the human due to physical limitation and adverse conditions
during fire accidents.

 Fire robot can be used for such high risk task of extinguishing fire. Many
fire fighting robots have been developed over the past years but few of them
can be wirelessly controlled by the human.

 This mission is divided into smaller tasks, and each task is implemented in
the most efficient manner such as self autonomous start of the robot, GSM
alert to the owner, Also will make an Intelligence sensing for flame, smoke
and heat. Finally approaches the fire and extinguishes it.
a)Existed system

• The present-day systems only rely on the output from the analog sensor
whose values are not precise and tend to fluctuate easily.

• Analog sensor values are not dependable enough and fluctuates based on
the environment.

• Sometimes the autonomous robot may get lost from the field of fire.

• Operation of the manually controlled is limited in the existing system

b)Proposed System

• In this project we have implanted both automatic and manual controls to

overcome the drawback on the existing system.

• Manual mode acts as a pair of eyes for the firemen outside thereby helps to
evaluated the situation inside the building.

• In case of automatic mode, the firemen don’t need to worry about the low
priority situation which can be handled by the robot itself.
Literature survey
 For many years robotics have become popular in many ways because of its
variety of design and technological advancement. Our motivation to design a
fire fighter robot is to help the community in effectively fire fighting by sensing
the fire and quickly acting without heavy losses of property or life.
 In some projects a tracking line is assigned for the robot to follow these paths
to extinguish the fire. In some designs ultrasonic sensors are used. When it
comes to simulation of this design it will make it difficult to implement it in
real time situations.
 From the different projects reviewed, certain objectives helped us to choose a
popular technique to fight fire efficiently by controlling it remotely by wireless
technology application and using two main sensors on Heat sensor and Smoke
sensor due to their ability to detect fire and fire extinguisher pump.
• Author Kristi Kokasih et al. has developed intelligent fire fighting tank
robot. Tank robot is made from acrylic, plastic, aluminum and iron. Robot
components are two servo motors, two DC motors, ultrasonic sensor,
compass sensors, flame detector, thermal array sensor, white detector (IR
and photo transistor) , sound activation circuit and micro switch sensor. The
objective is to search certain area, find and extinguish the flame for
different flame positions, room configuration with disturbance. Robot is
activated through DTMF transmitter and receiver.
• Android Phone controlled Robot Using Bluetooth is developed by Arpit
Sharma et al. Various techniques of Human Machine interaction using
gestures are presented. Gestures are captured by using the accelerometer.
The paper analyses the motion technology to capture gestures using an
android smart phone which has inbuilt accelerometer and Bluetooth module
to control kinetics of the robot. The microcontroller controls the signals of
the Bluetooth module. Features like user friendly interface, lightweight and
portability OS based smart phone has overtaken the sophistication of
technologies like programmable glove, static cameras etc making them
obsolete.

Conclusion

• We have successfully designed and inter face fire-fighting robot with

different sensors. The manually wireless controlled robot model design has

an advantage over other existing models as it can be controlled from any

remote location. The model developed, on sensing fire starts it’s

extinguishing process and also additionally alerts the user by sending an

SMS.
Advantages
• Capability of sensing accurately with increased flexibility.

• No line of sight Not blocked by common materials.

• It can pass through solids Longer range.

• Not sensitive to light.

• Not sensitive to weather conditions.

Applications

• Industries are using RF solutions:

For monitoring, control, process, inventory tracking, data links and bar
code reading devices.

• Consumer products:

Electronic toys, home security, gate and garage door openers, intercom, fire
and safety systems, and irrigation controllers.

• Medical products:

Patient call and monitoring, handicap assistance device, surgery

communication system, remote patient data logging and ECG monitor
Future Scope
• The project has been motivated by the desire to design a system that can
detect fires and take appropriate action, without any human intervention.

• It provides us the opportunity to pass on to robots tasks that traditionally

humans had to do but was inherently life threatening.

• Fire-fighting is an obvious candidate for such automation.

• It can be enhanced by interfacing it with a wireless camera so that the

person controlling it can view the operation of the robot remotely on a
screen.
