BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Mung bean (Vigna radiata) or monggo is a bean plant which
itis the most inexpensive and one of the most quick growing
plants in the Philippines.
Milk in gardening is a rarely used when trying to fertilize plants.
But it has a lot of benefits. Some of its benefits are it contains
nutrients which all helps the plant in growing quicker and
healthier.
Soda and Coffee are very similar in the effects when used to
fertilize them since both products contain caffeine which help
the plants grow. The only difference of the two is that is that
the soda contains sugar which are unbeneficial for plants
since the sugar dehydrates the plant
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study was made to find a liquid to water
plants with to enable our food producers to find
an efficient way to make crops grow faster
without using any chemicals and toxic
alternatives.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The purpose of the study is to
determine the effect of different
types of liquids on the growth of a
Mung bean plant (Vigna Radiata)
OBJECTIVES
This study aims to:
Learn the most effective and efficient liquid in
order to have the most successful and healthy
Mung bean plant (Vigna Radiata).
Know the different effects of the liquids on the
Mung Bean plant (Vigna Radiata).
Measure the height and the total growth of the
Mung Bean plant (Vigna Radiata).
HYPOTHESIS
If the type liquid would be
changed into milk the height of
the Mung bean plant (Vigna
radiata) would significantly
increase.
RELATED EXPERIMENTS ON THE
VARIABLES
Related Experiment on the Independent Variable
The overwhelming amount of nutrients and liquid will affect the
plant negatively. Macro nutrients will clog up the roots which make it
difficult to get water for the plant. There are other effects affecting the
plant’s growth such as temperature, humidity.
Related Experiment on the Dependent Variable
The plant germination varies on the amount of water that the plant
receives. It is more likely that the plant will germinate when it is
watered frequently. When the plants begin to sprout they can be
harvested to be eaten or can be left to mature.
METHODOLOGY
Preparation of Materials
Four mung bean seeds are placed in a test tube filled half way
with clean tap water. The mung beans are then left to sprout for 8-12
hours in a dark or dim lighted area. The water is then drained and
replaced about 2 times a day rinse and repeat the process until the
desired length of sprouts is achieved. Three hundred (300.0) Grams of
garden soil was placed into a 200mL pot and in a well in the soil four
mung bean sprouts are placed and covered with soil.
Experiment Proper
The sprouts placed in the pots were then watered with the
desired liquids (Milk, Soda, Tap water) for 3 weeks daily and results
are recorded daily. The plants were kept in a room temperature
with 2-3 hours of sunlight every morning.
