The important sarcodes are;

 Adrenalinum

 Cholesterinum

 Insulinum

 Pituitarinum

 Pepsinum

 Pancreatinum

 Thyroidinum
ADRENALINUM
•An internal secretion of suprarenal gland.

•It is an active principle of adrenal medulla.

•Hypothalamus controls the secretion.

•Site of action
On receptors of effector organs.

Main effect on receptor is excitatory.

•Action of adrenalinum
Heart
Heart rate ,force , and output is increased
.
ADRENALINUM (contd..)

Excitability of myocardium is increased.

Conductivity of bundle of His is increased.
 Blood vessels

All constricted except coronary vessels and skeletal muscles.

 Blood pressure

Rises sharply and comes down slowly and even below the basal level .
Systolic Bp – increased
Diastolic Bp – increased
 Skeletal muscles

Excitability and contra-activity increased

Onset of fatigue delayed.
Anti-curare action.
ADRENALINUM (contd..)

 Blood

 Blood sugar increased.

 Blood lactate increased.
 Coagulation increased.
 Serum potassium increased.
 RBC , WBC ,platelets, Hb% increased.
 Plasma proteins concentrated.
 Kidneys

 Urine volume decreased.

 Renal circulation decreased.
 Glycosuria.
 Metabolism
 BMR increased.
 Blood sugar increased
ADRENALINUM (contd..)

 Smooth muscles

 Intestines-movements inhibited.
 Gall bladder- contraction.
 Urinary bladder – relaxation.
 Spleen – contraction.
 Eyes- dilatation.

 Skin

o Standing of hair ( goose flesh)

 Sweating can be induced by administration.
 ADRENALINUM (contd..)
 Nervous system
 Restlessness
 Anxiety
 Fatigue
 Spinal cord
 Decreased muscle tone.

 Therapeutically adrenalinum has been suggested in acute congestion of

lungs , asthma, graves disease and addisons
disease, arteriosclerosis, chronic aortitis, angina pectoris , hemophilia,
chlorisis, acute urticaria etc.

 Vaso – constriction is the main action.

CHOLESTERINUM
 Cholesterine– the proximate principle . Furnished by the
epithelium lining of the gall bladder and the larger ducts.
 It is a good remedy for;
 Cancer of liver
 Obstinate hepatic engorgements.
 Burning pain on sides, while walking holds his hands on the
sides, as it hurts him.
 Opacities of the viterous.
 Jaundice and gall stones.
 Insomnia
INSULINUM
 The cells of islets of langerhans secrete it .
 Functions
 Carbohydrate metabolism: oxidation of sugar and
transport of glucose into cells .
 Protein metabolism: prevents gluconeogenesis.
 Fat metabolism: prevents formation of ketone bodies.
 It showing its applicability in carbuncles, acne, erythema
with itching eczema.
 It is useful in persistent case of skin irritation, boils,
varicose ulceration with polyuria.
PITUTARIA GLANDULA
 FROM PITUITARY GLAND.
 Superior control over the growth and development of the sexual organs.
 Stimulate muscular activities.
 Overcomes uterine inertia.-in the second stage of labor where the os is
fully dilated.
 Its influence over unstriped muscular fibre is marked .
 Cerebral hemorrhage- checks hemorrhages and aids in the absorption of
clots .
 Good remedy for high blood pressure, chronic nephritis , prostatitis.
PEPSINUM
 The pepsin is extracted from the stomach of the pig .

 Preparetion
 By triturating the secretory layer of a fresh pig’s
stomach;by triturating the granular pepsin with sugar of
milk .
 Mainly act on digestive system
 It digest the contents of the stomach.
 Its specific affinity on the secretory tissues of the stomach.
 Good remedy for dyspepsia.
PANCREATINUM
 EXTRACT OF PANCREATIC AND SALIVARY GLAND
OF OX OR SHEEP.

 Good remedy for diabetes, diarrhoea, mumps, gout, disease

of pancreas.

 Dr. Burnett says this remedy is often of great service in

gout.
