Tesla, Inc.: "We Will Not Stop Until Every Car On The Road Is Electric."

Tesla aims to transition all vehicles to electric. It discusses Tesla's history and technologies including batteries, power inverters, induction motors, autopilot sensors, and regenerative braking. A key part of Tesla's infrastructure is its network of Supercharger stations, which use high-power DC charging to provide rapid recharging along travel routes.

 Proprietary 3-Phase 4-Pole AC Induction Motor (exception Model
3)
 Induction Motor was selected as no permenanent magnets or
brushes are required in the motor's design.
 Variable volage variable frequency technology is used .
Motors  As flux is directly proprtional to ratio of voltage and frequency for
3-phase induction motors, desired torque at any given RPM can be
achieved.

 Initially in 2013, "battery pack swapping" was planned.
 Once demonstrated in 2009 , it just took just 90 second
The to perform.
Super Charger  It was announced that by 2015 they will convert all
normal charging station to Tesla Stations, But....
network  Battery swapping capabilities was no longer a
significant part of Tesla's plans for on-road energy
"Lifeline of replacement for their vehicles.
Tesla"  By June 2015, they realized this fact.
 480-volt DC fast charging station introduced in 2012
 By January 2019, 12000 Super charging stations are established.
 Takes about 20 minutes to charge to 50%, 40 minutes to charge to
80%, and 75 minutes to 100% on the original 85 kWh Model S.
 It consists of high-power DC current instead of AC.
 So no converters are required within the car.
Super
 Of course a common converter is deployed at the station itself
Chargers saving power losses and complexity.
(contd.)  Usually charging stations are near to their Solar farms to reduce
losses.
 So the variable DC voltage is converted to AC at solar farm and
then further converted to DC at supercharging stations for
sufficient and steady voltage level.
 Every electrical car consists of a BMS(battery management
system)
 Which works on constant current or constant voltage supply
(CCCV Charging technique)
 Constant voltage is normally used which is slightly more than
100% battery voltage
Super  Takes less time to charge from empty to 80% but more to charge
Chargers full
 Max capacity of 140 KW operating at 120 KW normally
 In 2016 a Chinese company claimed to have maximum theoretical
capacity of 180 KW
 However no cars currently contains 400-500 volts battery which is
required for that.
