Electric Circuit Devices there symbols and function

1-Cell:
Cell is a device that gives energy to the electric circuit
The larger terminal is +ive terminal and smaller is a –ive terminal

2-Battery:
A battery is the combination of two or more than two cells
It also give energy to the circuit

3- DC Supply:
DC supply is also used to give energy to the electric circuit
DC current always flow in one direction

4- AC Supply:
An AC Supply is also used to give excitation or give electrical energy to the electric circuit
AC=Alternating current continuously changes its direction

5- Fuse:
A fuse is a device that is used for safety purpose
Every fuse has its own current limit , above that limit the wire inside the fuse blow or
melt saving the device from damage

6- Transformer:
Transformer is an Electrical Device use for step up and step down the AC voltages
It has two coils and a core, energy is transferred from one coil to another coil by magnetic
field

7- Earth/Ground:
It is the connection to the earth
normally we consider the earth voltage as a 0 volts in many electrical and electronics circuits

8- Resistor:

A resistor is a circuit device which offer resistance to the flow of current

9- Capacitor:

A Capacitor is a device that stores charge in electric field


It is mostly used as a filter in electrical and electronics circuits i.e.
it blocks Dc signal and only allow Ac signal to pass through it

10- Inductor:
An inductor is a coil which creates magnetic field when electric current is passed through it
It can be used as a transducer which convert electrical energy into mechanical energy

11- Switch:
A switch is a device use to change the state of the circuit
With the help of switch we can ON or OFF any circuit

12- Diode:
Diode is a device that allow current to flow in only one direction
The arrow of the circuit symbol shows the direction in which the current can flow

13- Amplifier:
An Amplifier is a device that changes, usually increases the amplitude of the signal
The signal is usually a voltage signal or current signal

14- Transistor:
Transistor is a device that amplify the current signal
transistor has three terminals collector base and emitter
Transistor is mostly used in radio telephone and computers

15-Voltmeter:
Voltmeter is a device that is use to measure the voltage across the circuit element

16-Ammeter:
Ammeter is use to find the current in the circuit

17-Ohmmeter:
Ohmmeter is used to find the resistance of the resistor
Now a days multimeter is used which has all the qualities as in Ammeter Voltmeter ohmmeter

Wire, Lamp (lighting), Lamp (indicator), Heater, Motor, Bell, Buzzer,


Wires joined, Wires not joined, Push Switch, Push-to-Break Switch,
On-Off Switch, 2-way Switch Dual On-Off Switch, NPN Transistor
Transistor PNP, Microphone, Earphone, Reversing Switch,
Relay, Variable Resistor, polarized capacitor, Variable Capacitor
Zener Diode, Photodiode, Loudspeaker, Aerial (Antenna), Galvanometer
Oscilloscope.
