INTRODUCTION
In this study the product that needs to be design is motorcycle
front wheel chock. A motorcycle front wheel chock is used when
storing or transporting a motorcycle to keep the front wheel from
turning and thus the motorcycle from tipping over.

This product is inspired from a simple kick stand and factory

standard double stand that commonly known is very unstable. This
product are mainly using mechanical lever concept to lock the front
wheel into place.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS
Motorcycle traditionally equipped with kick stand and double
stand. A kickstand is a device on a bicycle or motorcycle that allows the
bike to be kept upright without leaning against another object or the
aid of a person.

The current on market solution are not satisfiying enough to the

user end. We offer cost saving and safer solution.
OBJECTIVES
• To design the best front wheel chock for motorcycle.
• To eliminate the risks of bike to topple if any external forces act on it.
• To be more creative, innovative and productive in creating and
fabricating new product.
• Apply and practice the software (CATIA) in designing, assembling,
analysing and simulating a product.
METHADOLOGY
• The morphological chart is a method to generate ideas in an
analytical and systematic manner. Usually, functions of the product
are taken as a starting point. The morphological method yields a
matrix of functions and components. Possible components are listed
the basis of its functions.
METHODOLOGY CHART
CONCEPT

• The concept that we choose in this

product is just like another motorcycle
front wheel chock that sells in the
market but we will modified to be as a
simple and easy to use. We come out by
study about the motorcycle front wheel
chock and we come out with 10 design
shortlist and choose the best design as
our product.

7. Safety
• Should be design for safe operation.
• Emergency alarm, notification sound and light turn on at the
motorcycle wheel chock when the wheel chock having a failure/locked.

8. Maintenance
• Spare should be available 5 years after the product is replace with the
new models.
Specific design

• The reasons why we do some innovations on the product is to make it

simpler and easier to be used. Besides, we added security feature
which automatically grab and lock the wheel as soon as the tyre hit
the switch.
BENEFITS

The benefits of our product is:

• Simple and easy to conduct
• Save time
• The base are in big dimension
• Economical and strong material
MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Manufacturing step
1. Product concept
• Our product concept based on the motorcycle front wheel chock that
are already in market.
• We discuss about the concept and what need to be modified from the
product that currently in the market.
2. Research
• We make a research about the motorcycle wheel chock.
• We search for the demands.
• Look all the motorcycle wheel chock that currently in the market to
make sure our product is not similar to their product.
• What need to be improved in our product.
3. Product design development

a) We discuss the function of our product

• To provide safety
• Saving time in docking motorcycle

b) Use material that long lasting

• Non-ferrous metals with good corrosion resistance, ductility and strength
• Aluminium, magnesium alloys

c) How to make sure our product long lasting

• Constant periodic maintenance
• Can stand for 5 years if correctly used

d) Material needed for production

• Find the suitable material such as metal and avoid plastics
4. Research and development of the final design
• Compile the product that already have and conclude the best design.

5. CAD
• The drawing was transferred to Computer Aided Drawing

6. Manufacturing
Forming process
• Sheet metal working
• Rolling
• Extrusion
• Casting
Welding
• Using soldering and brazing technique

Finishing
• Improve appearance.
• Removing the adhesive and burrs.
7. Assembly
• Assemble all the product by welding the joint.
• After welding we do the finishing process.

8. Final product
• Ready for marketing.
Rejected Drawing
• Small base
• Low balance
• Tyre bracket too sharp
• Sharp vertices
• Low aesthetic value
Rejected Drawing
• Small base
• Small approach plank
• Separated unit
• Inefficient assembly process
• Low aesthetic value
Rejected Drawing
• Absent of ramp
• Sharp edges
Final Design
Final Design
• This design combines all the goods and the improvements from the
previous rejected drawings
• This front wheel chock design has a large base which will make the
motorcycle more stable.
• the motorcycle front wheel chock by combine the concept of large
and wide base which minimize the chances of the user to miss the
plane.
• Our improvised version of design added with ramp to help the wheel
to approach the bracket
• More additional features are our intelligent mechanical triggers to
automatically clamp the wheel as soon as it pushes the switch.
• For ease of use, the angle for bottom bracket was enlarges to allow
bigger and wider tyre to be mounted on this device.
• This design also has a pair of arm that have multiple settings to suit
the size of wheel.
