Optimization of Insulating Material in Boiler Pipelines

This document discusses optimizing insulating materials used in boiler pipelines to maximize heat transfer. It reviews literature on piping insulation properties and materials. The process involves studying insulating material properties, selecting materials like various fibers, analyzing heat transfer coefficients, and identifying issues like insulation thickness. Materials considered include Kevlar, E glass, cotton, banana, coir fibers as well as polyurethane, jute, sisal, lotus, pineapple, and elephant grass fibers and glass wool. The optimized insulation will be applied to BHEL boilers and accessories.

Optimization of insulating

material in boiler pipelines

Abstract
In this paper discuss about the various
insulating material used in this boiler pipelines for
the heat transfer of the pipelines. This insulating
materials takes place major role .so we going to
optimize the maximum heat transfer takes place
and the insulation thickness. we going to
investigate and taking the various fiber and to
calculate the maximum heat transfer the thermal
conductivity , thermal coefficient, thermal
expansion and to calculate the heat transfer
coefficient.
LITERATURE REVIEW

C. Basavaraju has done intensive research on piping systems, materials used,

supports, fittings, insulation properties, operating medium in pipe line and analysed
the main stream line of thermal power plant and provided supports to successful
installation. Insulation materials are very basic and important requirement in
any industry dealing with various heat transfer unit operations. It is very
important in dairy and food industry to maintain the temperature of chilled
water and steam supply, store the products at low temperature either in cold
storages or in tanks and transportation of the products at lower temperature.
The basic aim of insulation is to retard the rate of heat flow in order to
prevent/minimize the change of temperature of the system or the space.
