Diagnostic Test: Prepared By: Raiza Doligol BSN-3

Diagnostic tests provide information about patients and help confirm diagnoses. They require preparation of patients, proper specimen collection techniques, and follow-up care including comparing results over time. Common diagnostic tests include blood tests through venipuncture, complete blood counts, measurements of electrolytes and blood glucose levels, electrocardiograms, imaging tests like angiograms, echocardiograms, CT scans, MRIs, and chest x-rays. Each test provides specific medical information through different examination methods.

Diagnostic test

Prepared by: Raiza Doligol

BSN-3
Dx. test
• Are test commonly called lab. Test.are
tools that provide information about the
client. test may be use as part of
screening
• Help to confirm diagnosis of the Pt.

Pre test
• Focus of this phase is the client
preparation to the test.

• Data collection
Intra test
• Focuses on specimen collection and
assisting in certain diagnostic testing

• Sterile technique as appropriate.

Post test
• Focuses on nursing care for the client

• Comparing of previous and current test

result.
Common Dx. test
• Blood test
One of common diagnostic test.

A venipuncture perform.
CBC
• Complete blood count specimen of venous
blood are taken which include WBC,
hematocrit, Hgb, RBC.
Serum Osmolality
• Measurement of solute concentration
particles include Sodium ion, glucose nd
urea.
Capillary blood glucose
• Capillary blood glucose testing is used for
the care of people with diabetes as a
monitoring tool giving a guide to blood
glucose levels at a specific moment in
time.
• Blood glucose levels are measured by a
meter to do use capillary blood directly
from finger sticks.
• Normal Level: 80-120 mg/dl
ECG
• transthoracic interpretation of the electrical
activity of the heart over time captured
and externally recorded by skin
electrodes.It is a noninvasive recording
produced by an electrocardiographic
device.
Angiography
• is a medical imaging technique used to
visualize the inside, or lumen, of blood
vessels and organs of the body, with
particular interest in the arteries, veins and
the heart chambers This is traditionally
done by injecting a radio-opaque contrast
agent into the blood vessel and imaging
using X-ray based techniques such as
fluoroscopy.
Echocardiogram
• often referred to in the medical community
as a cardiac ECHO.

• Also known as a cardiac ultrasound, it

uses standard ultrasound techniques to
image two-dimensional slices of the heart.
The latest ultrasound systems now employ
3D real-time imaging.
CT- SCAn
• is a medical imaging method employing
tomography created by computer
processing. Digital geometry processing is
used to generate a three dimentional
imageof the inside of an object from a
large series of two-dimensional X-ray
images taken around a single axis of
rotation.
MRI
• Magnetic resonance imaging
• nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI), is
primarily a noninvasive medical imaging
technique used in radiology to visualize detailed
internal structure and limited function of the
body. MRI provides much greater contrast
between the different soft tissues of the body
than computed tomography (CT) does, making it
especially useful in neurological (brain),
musculoskeletal cardiovascular, and oncological
(cancer) imaging.
CHEST X-RAY
• s a projection radiograph of the chest used
to diagnose conditions affecting the chest,
its contents, and nearby structures. Chest
radiographs are among the most common
films taken, being diagnostic of many
conditions.
