Multiplying Polynomials

This document discusses multiplying polynomials. It begins by covering multiplying two binomials using the FOIL method (First, Outside, Inside, Last). It then discusses special cases like multiplying the sum and difference of two terms, and squaring a binomial. The document continues with multiplying a binomial by a trinomial, cubing a binomial, and multiplying polynomials with multiple variables. It provides examples of multiplying various polynomial expressions.

MULTIPLYING A BINOMIAL BY A TRINOMIAL

 Multiply each term of one of the polynomials by

each term of the other, and then add all the
monomial products.

 It may be helpful to line up the common terms

vertically.

CUBING A BINOMIAL
 To cube a binomial, write the binomial
three times. FOIL two binomials
and then multiply the resulting trinomial by the
remaining binomial.
