3 MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

A. QUARANTINE
● Segregation of products if there would be an inconsistency in
the integrity of the ingredients to be used
● Ensures that less or no defective product reaches the
consumer
● In the event that a defective product is recalled due to poor
ingredients used, said product will neither be sold or
distributed
B. REJECTED PRODUCTS

● Otherwise known as defective ingredients or


merchandise; did not reach the standard
● Must be separated from approved produce
● Rejects must be destroyed immediately to
prevent mix-up
C. ACCEPTED PRODUCTS

● Verified for their conformity to specifications


prior to release for use
● Goods must be clean and checked for
appropriate protective packaging
● Stored under suitable conditions and re-
evaluated as necessary (determination of
suitability for use)

QUARANTINE AND WAREHOUSE

FINISHED PRODUCT QUARANTINE: last point of


control before the product enters the warehouse and
becomes available for distribution to the market

WAREHOUSE: responsible for all incoming goods


and for releasing finished products
cGMP rules for warehouse enable
manufacturers to:
● protect the products from damage during storage
and transport
● prevent degradation of the products by exposure to
adverse temperature conditions
● avoid mix-ups and contamination by other materials
● prevent time-expired or damaged material or product
from being used
DOCUMENTATION
>> allows monitoring of activities which have already
been conducted
>> in case of a recall, the size of the recall will be
determined by the accuracy and completeness of the
warehouse records
Inventory card: contains record of the quantity received, issued,
and balanced stock of the starting material, intermediate product,
bulk product, or finished product

Distribution record: covers distribution of finished products
