OBJECTIVES
Main Objective:
 by the end of the lesson, students should be able
to:
Write a well-organized and coherent essays.

Sub Objectives:
Brainstorming and develop ideas for an essay.
Write thesis statement in introduction.
Write topic sentences and supporting details for the
body.
Write an effective concluding paragraph for an essay.
SLOT 1
Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students should be able
To understand the process of brainstorming
To practice brainstorming techniques
To brainstorm and develop their ideas
To practice writing from the ideas gained through brainstorming

Materials Needed: Mahjong paper and marker pens.

Activities:
 Teacher ask students to form a group of four or five people.
Teacher explains to them what brainstorming is and the importance of brainstorming in
the writing process.
 Teacher hands mahjong paper to each group in the class.
Teacher asks students to brainstorm about the topic.
Have them write down anything and everything that they can think of.
Teacher ask them to write their topic in mahjong paper.
SLOT 2
Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students should be
able to write a thesis statement

Activities:
Teacher explains how to write a thesis statement
Teacher ask students to work with a partner
Teacher asks students what are the similarities or differences
between the structure of paragraph and the structure of an
essay.
Teacher gives students a sample essay and a worksheet to
complete the given framework.
SLOT 3
Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students should be
able to write topic sentences
 Activities:
Teacher explain about what is the topic sentence.
 Teacher shows students a video of how to write topic sentence

Teacher ask them to write a paragraph by using the worksheet

Teacher instruct them to highlight their topic sentence.

Teacher give a worksheet to students about the irrelevant
details
Students need to identify the answer in order to make
them understanding
Teacher ask them to create supporting details for their

be able to write their conclusion
Activities:
Teacher explain to the students about the conclusion of
the essay
Teacher asks students to form their conclusion
