Design and integration of

peripheral devices
LAN CARD
• A network interface
card, network adapter,
network interface
controller (NIC), or
LAN adapter is
computer hardware
component designed to
allow computers to
communicate over a
computer network.
MOTHERBOARD
• A motherboard is
a central printed
circuit board
(PCB) in many
modern computers
and holds many of
crucial
components of the
system, while
providing
connectors for
other peripherals.
RAM
• Random Access
Memory, the
most common
computer
memory which
can be used by
programs to
perform
necessary tasks
while the
computer is on.
HARD DISK
• A HARD DISK
DRIVE (often
shortened as hard disk,
hard drive, or HDD) is
a non-volatile storage
device that stores
digitally encoded data
on rapidly rotating rigid
(i.e. hard) platters with
magnetic surfaces.
VIDEO CARD
• A video card,
video adapter,
graphics-
accelerator card,
display adapter or
graphics card is an
expansion card
whose function is
to generate and
output images to a
display.
Sound Card
• A sound card, also referred to as an audio card, facilitates
the input and output of audio signals to and from a
computer under the control of computer programs. Sound
cards for computers were uncommon until 1988, which left
the single internal PC speaker as the only way early PC
software could produce sound and music.
• Uses of a sound card include the audio component's for
multimedia applications such as games, video/audio
editing software and music composition. Most computers
today have sound capabilities built into the motherboard,
while others require additional expansion cards.
• The external ports are color coded by industry standard.
AGP vs PCI-E
• The Accelerated • PCI Express (Peripheral
Graphics Port (often Component Interconnect
shortened to AGP) is a Express) is a high-speed
high-speed point-to- serial computer
point channel for expansion bus standard
attaching a video designed to replace the
card to a computer's older PCI, PCI-X,
motherboard, primarily and AGP bus standards
to assist in the
acceleration of 3D
• POWER SUPPLY UNIT- is
the component that
supplies power to the
other components in a
computer.

• Serial ATA (SATA) data

cable is a computer
bus interface for
connecting host bus
adapters to mass storage
devices such as hard disk
drives and optical drives.

• SATA Power Connector is a

power cable for SATA
devices such as (HDD)hard
disk drives and
(ODD) optical disk.
