Control M-Interfaces

• Graphic user interface used to define the jobs in the various


environments that is DEV/UAT/PROD
• Primarily used to create new jobs and also to modify the existing jobs in
Control M-Desktop
the Control M table
• Changes made in Control-M/Desktop will be on the permanent schedule

• Used to monitor, intervene and analyze the job flow


• Change done on Control-M/EM will not be saved to the Control M table,
Control M-Enterprise but only on the instance of the job
Manager • Changes done on Control-M/EM will be on the active queue alone

Common activities done on the Control-M/Desktop application:

• Loading jobs into the workspace

• Create a new job

• Filter the jobs

• Update attributes across multiple jobs

• Writing jobs into the table

Loading jobs into the workspace
• Open Control M Desktop(Either click the desktop icon in Citrix or Open from Control-M Enterprise Manager.(Control-M
Enterprise Manager->Tools->Control-M desktop))

• Go to menu bar : File->Load jobs from Control M/EM.


A window would pop up (Load jobs) in which you can select the table to be loaded.
Select server name as hpdev_server and required table(s) from the drop down.
Click on Apply and then load.

Loading jobs:

• Please take not to select the parent node that says hpdev_server. This would ensure that all the jobs in the table are
loaded to your workspace.

• When writing back the data into the table, all the contents in the workspace will be updated to the table. So it is very
important to make sure that, all the jobs in the table are selected while loading the table.

• If you need to load multiple tables, then type in the names separated by comma.

All ldxd/lcxd/any other jobs will be displayed on the LHS pane

Creating Control M Jobs

We have two options:


1. Add a job
2. Copy and rename an existing job
To copy and rename the existing job, you

(eg: lcxd) and then select the option Add Copy and Edit.

Creating Control M Jobs
• While editing change the following fields

1. First tab-add Job name, Doc File and Description

2. Execution tab- Should be bat1

3. In condition tab-Give the input condition as per the control sheet

4. Out condition- Job's no itself

5. Resources-Control resources-current job id

6. Set-Give PARAM values as per the control sheet

• After the changes save and close the job.

• After that we need to write the jobs to Control M Job table. Go to file-> Write to control M Jobs.

• Then order the jobs. Double click on the job and click on save and order.

Click on Order or Force with Hold-> Order->select ldxd/lcxd/any other-> continue.

• Open enterprise manager and force the now created job.

Writing Jobs into the Table
• All the jobs loaded into the workspace will be over written to the table.

• To write the jobs back to the table, right click on the table name and select the option Write. This will save all the job
information to the table.

• Upload the changes, so that the changes are visible in the Control-M/EM.Right click on the table name and select the
option Upload.

• Once all the changes are uploaded please take note to Unlock the table.

How to Remove table lock in Control M desktop?

• In the Control- M desktop, there is an icon ‘Table’.


Click on its drop down and select the option ‘table’. A
window will come with the name (Distributed
Table),Data Center Version<xxx>)

• select ‘hpdev_server’. A pop up will come and press


continue. Give the table name for which you have
lock(lcxd/ldxd/any other).

• Save and close the window. The locked table will


come in the LHS pane. Right click and select unlock.
Table will be unlocked

Note:

If someone else has opened the table to create jobs


and if those jobs are not saved, the changes will be
lost when you unlock the table.
