TRANSFORMATIONS DESCRIPTION

• Description:
• The four types of transformations
which you will encounter during this topic
are:
• Translation.
• Reflection.
• Rotation.
• Enlargement/Re-sizing (Dilation).

• Definition: A transformation moves a figure to a


new position without changing its size or shape.
The original shape of the object is called the
pre-image and the final shape and position of
the object is the image under the
transformation.

TRANSLATION DESCRIPTION

• Definition: A figure that is not changed


by size or shape, simply slides across
the plane from left, right, up or down
from the given points.

• Definition: A figure that is


mirrored over the “mirror line”
to imitate the original figure.
