Main Fans: by Daniel Brassel (Cts - TPT)

The document discusses main fans used in cement plants. It describes the design and efficiency of different impeller types used in main fans. It also discusses fan equations, performance curves, flow control methods, reliability issues like build-ups and vibrations, and the process of selecting appropriate fans. The main fans in a cement plant, such as the kiln ID fan and raw mill fan, consume between 30-50% of the plant's total electrical energy.

Permanent remedy could be gained through:

 Change of duct / fan arrangement

 Change of fan speed or impeller diameter
 Modification of fan inlet or impeller blade shape
 Larger shaft diameter

If the above listed measures do not solve the

problem, regular cleaning has to be envisaged!
