• Reflexive Pronouns
– reflect back the subject of the sentence
– Come after a verb
– Come after a preposition
• I saw myself in the mirror. (Myself is a reflexive pronoun, reflecting the pronoun I. )
• Intensive Pronouns
– intensify the subject or noun in a sentence
– give emphasis to the subject, noun or pronoun
• I will do it myself. (Myself is an intensive pronoun, intensifying the pronoun I. )
The following words are substandard
and should not be used:
• theirselves
• theirself
• hisself
• ourself
