Fractions Lesson Powerpoint

The document discusses using fractions in everyday life. It describes playing a fraction game as a class and revising fractions. Students will then create their own shops by matching food orders that request fractions of items to the correct amounts. For example, an order for 1/4 of a bag of apples would receive one apple since there are four apples in a bag. The lesson concludes with an exit ticket where students draw 1/4 and answer questions about fractions.

Revising the fractions
we know!
• I will write a fraction on the board
• Draw your own visual representation of this fraction
(everyone’s drawing will be slightly different!)
• When I tell you, turn your board to show me your drawing
• We will use different representations to show each other
that there are a few different ways of showing the same
fraction!
Creating Our Own Shops
• Each desk will receive a list of orders and cakes or fruit
• Together as a group of workers, you will match the order
with the amount of food requested.
• For example: If an order asks for ¼ of a bag of apples and
there are 4 apples in a bag, then I will place the order and
ONE apple in the container on my desk.
