Located on the river Seine, in northern France, the City of Paris at its administrative boundaries (unchanged since 1860) has a population of 2,167,994 inhabitants (January 2006). A Brief History of Paris City • In 4200 BC, the Parisii, the Senones Kelt tribe, known as the merchants, inhabited the area near the Seine River since 250 BC. The Romans mastered the Paris swamp of 52 BC, becoming a prosperous city with a forum, palaces, ponds, temples, theaters and amphitheater. • The fall of the Roman Empire and the 13th century Germanic attacks brought the city into an era of darkness. The year 400 AD Lutèce, which was later abandoned by its inhabitants, was just a small town within an irregularly fortified central island. The city received the name "Paris" at the end of the Roman occupation. Icon of Paris City • The Eiffel Tower is an iron tower built on the Champ de Mars on the banks of the River Seine in Paris. The tower has become a global icon of France and one of the world famous structures. • as per its designer, Gustave Eiffel, The Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in Paris Icon of Paris City • The city of Paris is known as the city of fashion and is located in the Seine as well as the london city which is located in the river called thames river and both metropolitan cities of the world give its own charm and become its own challenge in the development of the city of paris as a city of the future with the insight of the environment. Arc de Triomphe • Arc de Triomphe is one of Paris's most famous monuments that became the backdrop of the urban ensemble in Paris. Located on the Chaillot hill right in the middle of a five-star highway intersection configuration. Arc de Triomphe • The Arc de Triomphe (Triumphal Arch) is a memorial monument built on the order of Napoleon to honor the French soldiers who fought during the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. The monument was built for 30 years, from 1806 to 1836 with Jean Chalgrin and Louis-Etienne Hericart de Thury as its architects.
