CONCLUSION
Regular monitoring of vital signs is essential as
they are primary indicators of an individuals physical
well-being. These vital signs include:
1. Pulse rate
2. Blood pressure
3. Body temperature
4. Breathing rate
5. Brain waves
Health care costs have risen exponentially.
Many people die due to lack of medical equipment in
rural hospitals.
Response when there is no responder - There is never
a good place to get hurt but when help is out of reach, a
medical kit is your next best friend.
Time is of the essence - A medical kit is just
that having one ready provides temporary aid until you
can get a proper help. No kit means no immediate help
In present system it is costly to buy the large medical
equipments like ECG machines and also have it fixed at
a single place.
The number of patients in remote areas are also less.
Too Much Unnecessary Care:-Overuse and unnecessary
care accounts for anywhere from one-third to one-half
of all health care costs, which equal hundreds of
billions of dollars, in addition to the half-a-trillion per
year experts attribute to lost productivity and disability.
Avoidable Harm to Patients:-This is one of health care’s most
common problems. The statistics are staggering. Here’s an
example: one in four Medicare beneficiaries that are admitted
to a hospital suffers some form of harm during their stay.
Portable medical equipments kit is to be designed in order to
solve the health monitoring problems of vital signs of patients
in remote areas.
A cost effective design has to be made for easy availability in
rural areas
EEG senses the brain waves.
ECG sensor is used to senses the heartbeat and pulse rate.
Temperature sensor is used to sense the body temperature.
Sensors are interfaced with the Arduino and the collected
data is displayed on monitor and LCD display.
Input from sensors
Generate alpha beta
etc waves and ECG

Alphanumeric LCD display module, meaning can display
alphabets and numbers
Consists of two rows and each row can print 16 characters.
Each character is build by a 5×8 pixel box
Can work on both 8-bit and 4-bit mode
It can also display any custom generated characters
Available in Green and Blue Backlight
Arduino IDE
Supports any programming language.
Console displays text output.
Used to write and upload computer code on Arduino.
Easy to operate.
Best to use in rural areas.
It is multipurpose so that many medical conditions are easily
measured.
Provides direct evidence rather than indirect evidence of
epileptic abnormality.
It detects the heart, brain, temperature condition and gives a
Real time health report.
Typical EEG Sensor output
Delta Waves -Too much ( Brain Injuries)
Too little (Poor sleep)
Theta Waves -Too much (Hyperactivity, Inattentiveness)
Too little (Poor Emotional Awareness)
Alpha Waves -Too much (Day dreaming , inability to focus, too relaxed)
Too Little ( High stress and OCD)
Beta Waves -Too much (Adrenaline to relax stress)
Too little ( Day Dreaming)
Gamma waves-Too much (Anxiety and stress)
Too little ( Depression and learning disability)
Typical ECG sensor output
P waves – Atrial
Depolarization
QRS Complex – Electrical
activity of ventricles
T Waves- Repolarization of
ventricles
Normal heart beat- 60 to
100 BPM
The portable medical kit has been designed. It is very use
full for the rural areas and it is cost effective.
