    Air pollution
    • Air pollution occurs when the air contains
    gases, dust, fumes or odour in harmful
    amounts. That is, amounts which could be
    harmful to the health of humans and animals
    or which could cause damage to plants and
    materials.
    • The substances that cause air pollution are
    called pollutants.
    What causes air pollution?
    • Burning of fossil fuels: Factories, office
    buildings, homes and power-generating
    stations burn fossil fuels, which cause air
    pollution.

    • Dangerous smokes from cars, buses, lorries


    and other vehicles.
    • Pesticides used to kill indoor and outdoor
    pests and insecticides used to kill insects
    causes air pollution.

    • Emissions from industries and manufacturing


    activities.
    Effects of air pollution
    • Respiratory and heart problems
    • Global warming
    • Acid Rain
    • Effect on wildlife
    • Depletion of Ozone layer
    Ways to overcome air pollution
    • Raising awareness and changing behaviour.
    • Use public mode of transportation.
    • Conserve energy by switching off fans and
    lights when you are going out. Large amount
    of fossil fuels are burnt to produce electricity.
    We can save the environment from
    degradation by reducing the amount of fossil
    fuels to be burned.
    Conclusion
    • To save the life of people on the earth and to
    make the people live long pollution should be
    stopped.
    • We should stop air pollution by growing more
    and more trees, using vehicles economically
    and make a more use of bicycles.
    • We should be economic and should try our
    best to make earth clean and green.
