Max Bogue and Peter Dilworth invented a 3D pen that draws in air by extruding a colored plastic thread from a spool as heated plastic through the pen tip, where it instantly cools and solidifies. The 3D pen, called a 3Doodler, allows users to draw solid 3D structures on any surface or from any surface into open air. It weighs around 7 ounces and is 7 inches long. The co-inventors met while working for WowWee, a company in Hong Kong that develops consumer technologies.
