DELHI MASTER PLAN 1962
• The first master plan for delhi
1961-81 was published by DDA
in 1962. envisaged development
of the urbanisable area of
448sqkm by 1981,catering to
an urban population of 4.6 million.
DELHI MASTER PLAN 2001
• To accommodate the 12.2 million
Urban population by the year 2001
The second master plan is envisaged
expanding the urbanisable area of
Delhi to 668 sqkm.
DELHI MASTER PLAN 2021
• The master plan of delhi , projected
population of 23 million by the
year 2021 on about 978sqkm of
total urbanisable area.

Surrounding context
• Dariyaganj is in the
neighbourhood.
• Largest business market of the
capital.
• Nearby areas were mainly
commercial i.e along the main
Netaji subhash marg road.
• Whereas the residential area
was at the deeper end.
• Tourist destination nearby like
Jama Masjid, Old fort and
Meena bazar due to which
heavy footfall found in the area.

 About 2.5km away from Chawri
Bazaar metro station.
 2/3km from Old Delhi railway
station.
 15km from the airport.
 1km away from Jama Masjid
TRAFFIC

 Heavy traffic as it is situated in Delhi’s most popular business area.


 Mostly light vehicle but buses.

motor cycles and 18 cars.

REASON OF BEING SHUTTED DOWN.
• The building was not been renovated in years.
• Cracks can be seen in outward façade
• Tickets were comparatively of same price as in multiplexes.
• Moreover people preferred to go to multiplexes for better facilities.
• Don’t have much foyer space outside the hall due to which it create chaos
outside the hall.
• Due to all the above reason already started dwindling.
• Finally the demonetization proved to be final nail for the cinema halls.
• During demonetization people generally don’t have the cash in hands
during that period the theatre owner weighed down by the high
entertainment tax and property tax.
• “The downfall of single screens was already on with tax increase.
Demonetization has made it difficult for us to even pay electricity bills and
salaries,” says Hanuman Sharma, Manager, GOLCHA Theatre
