Analog and Hybrid Computers

The document discusses analog computers, hybrid computers, and compares the two. It defines analog computers as computers that store continuous data and process it, while hybrid computers have features of both analog and digital computers by processing both continuous and discrete variables for applications like simulation and forecasting. Hybrid computers have the speed of analog computers and precision of digital computers. Examples given are a speedometer and patient monitor.

 Hybrid Computers
 Comparison between analog and hybrid computers
 Examples
 Meaning of computer
 Analog Computer:
An analog computer is a computer which is
used to process analog data. Analog computers
store data in a continuous form of physical
quantities and perform calculations with the help
of measures.
 Continuous representation of data
 Fast and inexpensive
 No human intervention
 Data logging can be done 24 hours a day, 365
days a year.
 Results not reproducible
 Very much sensitive
 Lack accuracy
 Expensive for small tasks
 Hybrid computers are computers that exhibit
features of analog Computers and digital
computers.

 Hybrid computer has the speed of analog

computer and the accuracy of digital computer.
