Introduction

• The students at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia are taught not only the academics, but also to be
an altruistic and generous person.
• Group 5 went to do community work in Tropoeung Kroper village, Trang Makak district, Ang Snoul,
Kandal Province, Cambodia, on September 17th, 2017, in a purpose to help the people, who are in
need of humanitarian aid.
• The students gathered at PUC around 12 pm.
• The community was far outside of Phnom Penh and the road was a difficult one.
• The group faced some challenges in allocating the humanitarian gifts.
• The villagers were in need of basic daily supplies.
• The mission was accomplished by 4:30 pm and the team arrived back at PUC around
5:30 pm.
Why this community?
• The community was chosen because of the extreme and critical conditions that the
people there face.
• Another reason was the location of the community.
• The third reason was to discover the village and experience the real life difficulties of
the villagers in hope of inspiring and encouraging others to come in.

Issues Encountered in Community
I. Livelihood :
• 36 poor families have experienced
economic, family and health problem.
• Only 50% are famers.
• People there do a small business by selling
boiled corns or traditional cakes, some as a
taxi driver or a constructor.
• For the income people earn a day is from
30.000 to 40.000 ៛ and for income of
factory labor is around 20.000៛ per day.
• For the older people do not have to work but
rely on their children's salaries from Phnom
Penh, where they go to work as workers,
garment factory workers and construction
workers.
Issues Encountered in Community
II. Education
• is still limited because of family burdens, parents lack of education, socio-
culture (get married in early age).
• But a few middle-class families send their children to school.
• Those students don’t get a high education, at least in high school.

III. Sanitation
• Most people are aware of sanitation problems. They know the advantages of
drinking boiled water and eat cooked food.
• Each family has their own bathroom which can reduce infectious diseases, and
it shows about increasing level of knowledge of people in one country as well.
• We saw that a ton of trash and sewage influence to people living through eating
or drinking.

IV. Health Care


• For 36 families are found to have HIV infection, but they were gathered to live
at the house near pagoda which built by organization, and were observed by
them.
• Some people are rarely go to a hospital because they have no money to pay for
medical bills and fees.

V. Environment
• Through the observation of our team, the
environment is full of garbage, bottles of
canned juice, which cause lizards and bad
odors, all of which is a factor in making the
whole community less healthy.
• People have been complaint about there is
no water canal to release water after
raining.
• They did not prepare the trashes well,
those trashes were thrown on the ground,
and into water.
ADDRESS THE SOLUTION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
THE COMMUNITY
 To be in (the people in the village to have the laws, and new rules ...)
• First, we should raise awareness of the environment as well as educate people,
provide hygiene living supply, or start cleansing their living area.
• Second, pay a high attention and keep track on families infected with HIV.
• Third, people should develop great habits by helping each other, and live in harmony.
Local authority should built a connection with local people to get to know more
about their living problems.
ADDRESS THE SOLUTION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
THE COMMUNITY
 Government (Sectors of Government, Organization, Charity ...)
• Local authority should take more responsibility in respond to villager’s demand, and
consider about water system by building a reservoir, a stream, drainage pipe.
• The Ministry of Health and Welfare because those 36 families who infected with HIV,
they really free care and medication to help them survive.
• The villager chief should be carefully help his people and provide hospitality and
security to those families, and he should consider asking non-profit-organization, or
charities to help raise funding that kindly can help those in needs.
• The authority should provide education and building school for those children for
free because only few of them can get to school.
• Government should take an action on teaching local people to know more on
hygiene, prevent from any sickness.
• They should create more jobs and provide short course of technical skills to the
village.

people. We can assume that they face with

Conclusion many problems such as poverty, lack of


education, lack of health care and hygiene
in daily life, and lack of good environment,
that why this local area is growing very
slow. In order to develop local area as
mention above, not only local people or
local authority but also need more non-
organizations as well.
