ENGLISH YEAR 4 LESSON PLAN

Date / Day : 28 October 2015 / Wednesday

Class : 4 Arif
Time : 8:30 9:30 am
Enrolment : 17 pupils
Theme : World of Knowledge
Topic : Unit 13- Work Hard, Work Smart
Focused skill : Listening and Speaking
Learning standard: 1.3.1 (a)
Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson, pupils should be


able to:
a) understand and respond to sound of tools.
b) recognize and classify the different types
and descriptions of different tools.
c) construct sentences orally and independently.

Success Criteria :

I am successful if I can:
a) name the tool correctly.
b) classify the tools correctly.
c) construct sentences orally.
SET INDUCTION
1) Teacher plays the sound of tools.
2) Pupils guess the tools based on the sound played.

PRESENTATION
1) Teacher asks the pupils about the tools they know.
2) Teacher introduces the tools.
3) Teacher explains to the pupils about four types of tools.

PRACTICE
1) Divide the pupils according to their abilities.

Mainstream pupils:
1. Select one picture.
2. Name the tools.
3. Classify the tools in accordance to their types.
4. Paste the tools in their groups accordingly.
5. Tell and explain about the tools in 3 simple sentences independently.

Remedial pupils:
1. Select one picture.
2. Name the tools.
3. Classify the tools in accordance to their types.
4. Paste the tools in their groups accordingly.
5. Tell and explain about the tools in 1 simple sentence independently.
PRODUCTION
1) Get the pupils into their groups (mainstream & remedial) .

Mainstream group (to play the game I am thinking of .)


1. Pupils sit in a circle.
2. One pupil will be standing at the centre of the circle and holding a ball.
3. He will give the ball to his selected friend and ask for the tool in his mind using the
phrase , I am thinking of a tool beginning with (any letter).
4. The pupil that holding the ball have to guess the tool or ask for another clue until he
works out with the correct answer.

Remedial group ( to play the game Is this a?


1. Pupils sit in a circle.
2. One pupil will be standing at the centre of the circle and holding a ball and a picture
of a tool.
3. He will give the ball to his selected friend and ask his friend using the phrase,
Is this a..?.
4. The pupil that holding the ball has to answer either Yes, it is. or No, it is not. It is
a ..

CLOSURE
1) Teacher revises on what the pupils had learnt today.
2) Teacher revises on types of tools.
3) Pupils give their feedback on what they have learnt (check the success criteria).
