For example: 1,2,3,4,5,6and so on.

Does not include :

Zero, negative numbers, fractions (such as 1/2
or 3/7), decimals (such as 0.95 or 1.3)
Dotted cards are made with index cards and
colored dot stickers.
made the card for each number 1-10, with the
numeral written beside the dots.
Children count aloud verbally as they get the
card.
Use these in beginning to help children to
learn counting
Explain to the children that the trick is to ensure
you count each and every item and that you
dont count any items twice.
Teach student to move each object methodically
to one side once counted.
When counting something on a worksheet ,ask
children ticking off the item as counted.
in a real-life situation it can be fun to count
pigeons in the park, people in a swimming pool,
books on a shelf and so on.
Counting in patterns leads to extending
number sequences.
Children learn how to analyse a string of
numbers and to decipher what should come
next or which number is missing.

-In Year 1 they might be asked to complete this

sequence: 4 6 __ 10
-In Year 2 it might be 45 55 65 75 __
You could help your child by printing off a
number square.
If they are counting in fives, encourage them
to colour in each number (5, 10, 15, 20, etc)
Let them chant the numbers out loud.
