The document defines several material properties: elastic limit is the maximum stress before permanent deformation; modulus of elasticity is the rate of change of strain with stress and describes how force stretches a material; ductility is a material's ability to deform under tension without rupturing; and percent elongation measures the extension of a material under tensile force. Sources for the definitions are also provided.

MCHDESA

Elastic Limit

Maximum stress or force per unit area within a solid material that can arise
before the onset of permanent deformation
For some materials the elastic limit marks the end of elastic behavior and
the beginning of plastic behavior
Modulus of Elasticity
in Tension

Rate of change of strain as a function of stress

Force which would be required to stretch a substance to double its normal
length, on the assumption that it would remain perfectly elastic
Modulus of Elasticity
in Tension
Ductility

The ability of a material to deform easily upon the application of a tensile

force
The ability of a material to withstand plastic deformation without rupture
Percent Elongation

The maximum elongation of the gauge length divided by the original gauge
length
