Eclipse Slides

Ancient cultures had various myths to explain solar and lunar eclipses. Solar eclipses occur when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, casting its shadow on Earth. There are three types of solar eclipses: total, partial, and annular. Lunar eclipses occur when the Earth passes between the sun and the moon, casting its shadow on the moon. Ancient Chinese believed a dragon was eating the sun during a solar eclipse and drums and arrows were used to scare it away. The Inuit thought the sun and moon were gods visiting Earth.
