Absence of evidence is

-Dr. Carl Sagan
Homeopathy is fast making inroads into the medical
care sector. As always, Homeopaths confront with
the question
“Does Homeopathy have any good research?”
“Does it really work?”
“How does it work?”
Lancet published a paper on 27 August, 2005
claiming that ‘Homeopathy is Placebo’ which made
the situation worse.
This paper aims at exploring the
development in the field of Homoeopathy
&
Modern Medicine to enable every
Homeopath to defend his science in the
society, & expose the lawlessness of the so-
called Modern Medicine.
The most controversial & debated issue in Homeopathy is serially
diluted Homeopathic Medicines.

According to Physicist Robert L. Park, former executive director of the

American Physical Society, has noted that since the least amount of a
substance in a solution is one molecule

a 30C would have to have at least one molecule of the original

substance solution dissolved in a minimum of
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000 molecules of
water.

This would require a container more than

30,000,000,000 times the size of the Earth
" Park has also noted that "to expect to get even one molecule
of the 'medicinal' substance allegedly present in 30X pills, it
would be necessary to take some two billion of them, which
would total about a thousand tons of lactose plus whatever
impurities the lactose contained".

The laws of chemistry state that there is a limit to the

dilution that can be made without losing the original
substance altogether. This limit, which is related to
Avogadro's number, is roughly equal to homeopathic
potencies of 12C or 24X (1 part in 1024).

Electromagnetic signals from bacterial DNA

Montagnier has published research

detecting electromagnetic signals (EMS)
from bacterial DNA (M. Pirum and E. Coli)
after serial agitated dilution in water, and
detection of EMS in the plasma and in the
DNA extracted from the plasma of patients
with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease,
multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Luc MONTAGNIER et al. Filtrated of a
culture supernatant of Mycoplasma pirum,
yielded apparently sterile fluid. The first
low dilutions were usually negative (no
EMS), showing the background noise
only. But, Positive signals (Emitting EMS)
were obtained at dilutions ranging from
10−5 to 10−8 or 10−12.
Some more examples, make us realize that high diluted or single
molecule can actually do lot of things:

•Beta-endorphins are known to modulate natural killer-cell

activity in dilutions of 10-18.
•Interleukin-1, an important part of the immune system, has
been found to exhibit increased T-cell clone proliferation
at <10-19.
•Pheromones emitted by animals and insects, result in
hypersensitive reactions with even a single molecule. (Scientists,
as on date, have no means to assess the effects of any thing which
has no molecule.)

published in the last 40 years have shown
homeopathic remedies to be superior to placebo

Homoeopathy is the second most used medical
system internationally, with over $1 Billon in
expenditures for such therapy.

Here are some of the popular
Homeopathic researches complied &
categorized to make everyone realize
that a lot of work has been done in this
area:

META-ANALYSIS
Twenty to 30 percent of French & German physicians use
Homoeopathy in clinical practice. In Great Britain, five
Homoeopathic hospitals are part of the National health
System, and over 30% of generalists use Homoeopathy. In
the United states, there are more that 500 physicians and
5000 non-physicians using Homoeopathy in clinical
practice, and 2.5 million Americans currently use
Homoeopathic medicines – of which two-thirds are self-
prescribed spending more than $250 million annually.
In 1987, one of the internationally important
Homeopathic research which took the centerstage was
done by French immunologist Jacques Benveniste
who submitted a paper to the journal Nature while
working at INSERM. The paper purported to have
discovered that basophils released histamine when
exposed to a homeopathic dilution of anti-
immunoglobulin E, a type of white blood cell.
META-ANALYSIS

Are the Clinical Effects of Homeopathy Placebo

Effects?
A Meta-analysis of Placebo-Controlled Trials: This
state of the art Meta analysis reviewed 186 studies, 89
of which fit pre-defined criteria. Rather than count and
compare the number of trials, which show efficacy of
treatment, the researchers pooled the data from the
various studies to assess data. The results showed that
patients taking homeopathic medicines were 2.45 times
more likely to experience a positive therapeutic effect
than placebo.

META-ANALYSIS

Critical Review and Meta-Analysis of Serial Agitated

Dilutions in Experimental Toxicology:

This meta-analysis of 105 studies in toxicology showed

that homeopathic medicines may be useful in treating
toxic exposures. This meta-analysis was conducted by
a similar group of researchers who recently published a
meta-analysis on clinical studies in The Lancet.

META-ANALYSIS

Clinical Trials of Homeopathy:

This is the most widely cited meta-analysis of clinical
research prior to 1991. This meta-analysis reviewed 107
studies of homeopathic medicines, 81 of which (or
77%) showed positive effect. Of the best 22 studies,
15 showed efficacy. The researchers concluded: "The
evidence presented in this review would probably be
sufficient for establishing homeopathy as a regular
treatment for certain indications." Further, "The amount
of positive evidence even among the best studies came
as a surprise to us.“

Clinical management of idiopathic epilepsy in dogs with

homeopathic Belladonna 200C: a case series:
Epilepsy is an important neurological disorder in dogs.

Belladonna 200C was evaluated in 10 dogs with idiopathic

epilepsy. During the seizure phase, 3-4 drops of Belladonna
200C were administered orally at 15 min intervals until
considerable reduction in seizure activity, then four times
daily.
Four dogs with head shaking syndrome in addition to
seizures were given Cocculus 6C, 3-4 drops orally weekly for
3 months in addition.
OTHER CLINICAL STUDIES

Numbers of fits reduced to 2-3 during first 2 weeks post-

therapy and then became occasional in next 2 weeks. With
continuation of Belladonna therapy, no fits were observed
during 2-7 months follow-up.
In two cases epileptic fits reappeared within 15-25 days of
cessation of therapy. Belladonna therapy was resumed
and seizure control was again achieved.
Owners were advised to continue the therapy at least twice
daily until there were no fits for 2-3 months. Liver specific
enzymes were monitored, no abnormalities were observed.

Hospital Study Shows Improved Health in 70% of
Patients Using Homeopathy:

The results of a six-year study at the Bristol

Homeopathic Hospital in England showed that more
that 70 percent of patients with severe illness showed
very positive health changes after taking homeopathic
remedies prescribed by their doctor.  More than 6,500
patients participated in this study.
Hospital Study Shows Improved Health in 70% of
Patients Using Homeopathy:

Diseases included eczema, asthma, migraine

headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, menopause,
arthritis, depression, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
The largest improvements were seen in children.  In
fact, over 89% of children under the age of 16 with
asthma reported significant improvement with
homeopathic treatments.  Of this group, 75% felt either
"better" or "much better", as did 68% of eczema
patients under 16 years of age.

HOMEOPATHY versus CONVENTIONAL
TREATMENT in respiratory tract complaints:

In an outcome study, 30 practitioners in four countries

enrolled 500 consecutive patients with at least one of
three complaints: upper respiratory tract complaints
including allergies; lower respiratory tract complaints
including allergies; or ear complaints. Of 456 patients,
281 received homeopathy and 175 conventional
treatment.
The primary outcomes criterion was response to
treatment, defined as cured or major improvement after 14
days of treatment. Results showed a response rate of
82.6% in the homeopathy group compared to 67.3% in
the group receiving conventional medicine. The
authors concluded that homeopathy appeared to be at
least as effective as conventional treatment of patients
with the three conditions studied.

Homeopathy versus conventional treatment in otitis media:
Prospective observational study, comparision of Homeopathy versus
conventional treatment in acute otitis media. Conclusion: Homeopathy
should be first line treatment in acute otitis media. Results showed median
duration of pain of 2 days in the homeopathy-group and 3 days in the
conventional medicine group. 70.7 % of the children receiving homeopathic
treatment did not have another ear infection the next year and 29.3 % had a
maximum of three ear infections within one year. 56.5 % in the conventional
medicine group did not have another ear infection the next year and 43.5 %
had a maximum of six ear infections the next year. Results showed that in
the group receiving homeopathic treatment only 5 out of 103 children
needed antibiotics.

BASIC RESEARCH
Thermodynamics of extremely diluted aqueous solutions: An extensive
thermodynamic study has been carried out on aqueous solutions obtained
through successive dilutions and succussions of 1% in weight of some
solutes up to extremely diluted solutions, (less than 1x10-5 mol kg-1)
obtained via several 1/100 successive dilution processes. The interaction of
acids or bases with the extremely diluted solutions has been studied
calorimetrically at 25°C. Measurements have been performed of the heats of
mixing of acid or basic solutions, having different concentrations, with
bidistilled water or with the extremely diluted solutions. Despite the extreme
dilution of the solutions, an exothermic heat of mixing in excess has been
found, in about the 92% of the cases, with respect to the corresponding heat
of mixing with the untreated solvent. Here [it is shown] that successive
dilutions and succussions may alter permanently the physical-chemical
properties of the solvent water. The nature of the phenomena here described
still remains unexplained, but significant experimental results are obtained.

Can Biological Activity be Maintained at Ultra-high Dilution?
An Overview of Homeopathy, Evidence and Bayesian Philosophy: The
objective of this article is to critically review the major pieces of evidence on
ultra-high dilution (UHD) effects and suggest how the scientific community
should respond to its challenge. Such evidence has been conducted on a
diverse range of assays -- immunologic, physiological, behavioral,
biochemical, and clinical in the form of trials of homeopathic remedies.
Evidence of UHD effects has attracted the attention of physicists who have
speculated on their physical mechanisms. ...It is argued that if the
phenomenon was uncontroversial, the evidence suffices to show that UHD
effects exist. However, given that the observations contradict well-
established theory, normal science has to be abandoned and scientists need
to decide for themselves what the likelihood of UHD effects are. ...The
difficulty in publishing high-quality UHD research in conventional journals
prevents a fair assessment of UHD effects. Given that the existence of UHD
effects would revolutionize science and medicine, and given the
considerable empirical evidence of them, the philosophies of science tell us
that possible UHD effects warrant serious investigation and serious attention
by scientific journals.

Characterization of Differing Effects Caused by Homeopathically
Prepared and Conventional Dilutions Using Cytochrome P450 2E1 and

ascertain differences in the effects of homeopathic potencies (D) and equally
concentrated conventional dilutions (V) on p-nitrocatechol formation
catalyzed by CYP 2E1. Arsenicum album and potassium cyanatum (D) were
compared to equivalent dilutions of As203 and KCN (V). Significant
differences in enzyme activity were found. The difference of influence exists
and this may be attributable to the manufacturing process of homeopathic
drugs, namely, the stepwise dilution with intermediate agitation.

PAIN CONTROL: Scientists at a British SchooL of Pharmacy found that
rodents given Hypericum were able to inhibit pain responses. Rodents
were able to remain on a hot plate longer than the control group. When given
NaLoxone. which inhibits pain killing endorphins, the protective effects of
Hypericum was reduced, showing that Homeopathic Hypericum activates
endorphins when needed. Please note that these rodents were free to walk
off the hot plate whenever discomfort was noticed.

MALT DIASTASE: The pioneering work of Boyd bound the worlds of
homoeopathy and Arndt-Schulz together in the early 1940s with a series of
tightly controlled experiments, and set the stage for work much later on as to
how homoeopathic medicine may work. Boyd worked with the enzyme malt
diastase, which was already known to be inhibited by crude doses of the salt
mercuric chloride, and measured its speed in the hydrolysis of starch. He
also used a number of homoeopathically prepared dilutions of mercuric
chloride, including a batch at 61x, where there was no likelihood of any of the
original salt remaining - it was pure water. He also worked with distilled water
as a control. He showed that crude doses of mercuric chloride inhibited
diastase activity, as was already well known, and that distilled water had no
effect. But he also showed, with statistically significant results, that mercuric
chloride 61x accelerated diastase activity.

LABORATORY EVIDENCE — The number one criticism of the scientific
community has been the "infinitesimal" nature or the dilution principle of
Homeopathy. Homeopaths do agree that once a remedy is diluted beyond
24x or 12C potencies they are diluted beyond Avagadro's Number (6.23 x
10-23) which theoretically indicates that no molecules are present in the
original substance. However, both LABORATORY AND CLINICAL
RESULTS over The last 190 years have demonstrated definite effectiveness
with Homeopathic remedies beyond this dilution.
A recent NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE (NMR) study showed that all
twenty-three different Homeopathic Remedies and Potencies tested had
DISTINCTIVE READINGS OF SUBMOLECULAR ACTIVITY, while The
Placebos did not. This demonstrates That homeopathy's function is not so
much chemical but energetic. As Chiropractors, you will observe dramatic
clearing of sensory nerve Interference and pathological reflex activity
causing chronic recurring subluxation activity and dis-ease.

ECONOMETRIC
Use of complementary and alternative medicine in a general pediatric
clinic: This study looked at CAM usage by a population of parents attending
a pediatric outpatient clinic at a university-affiliated general hospital in
Quebec, Canada over a four week period (Jean, 2007). CAM therapies
included chiropractic, naturopathy, homeopathy, massage, acupuncture,
Reiki/energy care, hypnosis, osteopathic manipulation, folk remedies, and
any hands-on techniques to promote health. A total of 114 children were
included in the study, and 54 percent of these children had received CAM
care, a higher number than reported in previous studies. The most popular
forms of treatment were homeopathy, chiropractic, and naturopathy, all of
which we would define as holistic systems of pediatric care. It is interesting
that 39 percent of these families had sought homeopathic care for their child,
a higher figure than in most other studies. The fact that most of these
children presented to this clinic for chronic problems may explain the high
level of holistic care and the high level of homeopathic care in this
population.

Charges, utilization, and practice patterns from a pilot
insurance program covering alternative medical services: Study
conducted in Seattle, WA which compared the utilization and cost of
homeopathic, naturopathic, and acupuncture services. Researchers
concluded that homeopathic care was the least costly and that
patient visits to homeopaths were less often than to other
alternative care professionals. (This study, however, did not compare
utilization or costs against conventional medical care).

Social Security Statistics: Conducted by the French government in
1991, this study showed a significantly reduced cost from
homeopathic care versus conventional medical care. The totality of
costs associated with homeopathic care per physician was
approximately one-half of the totality of care provided by
conventional primary care physicians. However, because
homeopathic physicians, on average, saw significantly fewer
patients, the overall cost per patient under homeopathic care was
still a significant 15% less. It is also appeared that these savings
increase the longer a physician has been using homeopathy.

LATEST DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD OF MODERN MEDICINE
The so-called Modern Medicine obviously doesn’t have any law, which
governs their line of treatment. One they propose some line of treatment the
other day they find it wrong. Here are a few examples:
Delaying DPT Vaccination may reduce incidence of childhood asthma-
Laurie Barclay, MD
Childhood asthma is reduced by half when the first dose of diphtheria,
pertussis, and tetanus (DPT) is delayed by more than 2 months vs given
during the recommended period, according to the results of a retrospective
longitudinal study reported in the March issue of the Journal of Allergy &
Clinical Immunology.
Among 11,531 children who received at least 4 doses of DPT, the risk for
asthma was halved in children in whom administration of the first dose of
DPT was delayed by more than 2 months. For children with delays in
administration of all 3 doses, the likelihood of asthma was 0.39 (95%
confidence interval [CI], 0.18 - 0.86).
DPT Molecule

Conclusion:
Among children who received at least 4 doses of DPT, the risk for asthma
was reduced by 50% in children in whom administration of the first dose of
DPT was delayed by more than 2 months from the recommended period.
For children with delays in administration of all 3 doses of DPT, the risk of
developing asthma was decreased by 60%. The reduction in asthma risk for
the second and third doses mainly resulted from the delay in the first dose.

Homeopathic Comment: A lot has been said about the possible hazards of
vaccination in Homoeopathic literature & the theory of suppression. The
above study is the acceptance of proposition of Dr.Hahnemann.
Nonoperative Treatment of Osteoporotic Compression:
Concerns have been raised over posterior spinal stress resulting from the
employment of extension bracing in patients with osteoporotic vertebral
compression fractures. In addition, research indicates that the use of
vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty in the treatment of such fractures can
increase the risk of adjacent vertebral body fractures. Therefore,
conservative treatment should be the choice of treatment.

Depressive Conditions Linked to Asthma Severity

Laurie Barclay, MD
May 16, 2008 — Depressive conditions reported by both patients and their
primary care physicians are associated with increased asthma severity,
according to a report in the May issue of Chest.

Homeopathic Comment: SOMATIC DISEASES OF PSYCHOLOGICAL

ORIGIN A variety of diseases including peptic ulcer have been identified to
be of Psychological origin (Psycho-somatic) which was previously believed
to be purely somatic by Modern Medicine. Importance of mental symptoms &
mental causations in origin of somatic disease has been off late accepted.
The Modern Medicine researches are market driven & profit
generating gimmicks. There is nothing called good sense that
prevails on them & hence the so-called most effective medicine turns
out to be a disaster & is subsequently banned. Is there anyone who
questions their scientificity?

The Thalidomide Disaster 1977

Friday, Aug. 10, 1962
Appalling reports continued to roll in. So far as is known, close to
8,000 babies have been born deformed (who should be held
responsible) because their mothers used a sleeping-pill-tranquilizer
called thalidomide (TIME, Feb. 23). All this added up to the greatest
prescription disaster in medical history.
§ 64- During the primary action of the artificial morbific agents (medicines)
on our healthy body, as seen in the following examples, our vital force
seems to conduct itself merely in a passive (receptive) manner, and
appears, so to say, compelled to permit the impressions of the artificial
power acting from without to take place in it and thereby after its state of
health; it then, however, appears to rouse itself again, as it were, and to
develop (A) the exact opposite condition of health (counteraction, secondary
action ) to this effect (primary action) produced upon it, if there be such an
opposite, and that in as great a degree as was the effect (primary action) of
the artificial morbific agent on it, and proportionate to its own energy; - or (B)
if there be not in nature a state exactly the opposite of the primary action, it
appears to endeavor to indifferentiate itself, that is, to make its superior
power available in the extinction of the change wrought in it from without (by
the medicine), in the place of which it substitutes its normal state (secondary
action, curative action).
Proton-Pump Inhibitor Withdrawal May Cause Rebound Acid
Hypersecretion CME/CE
News Author: Laurie Barclay, MD
CME Author: Laurie Barclay, MD
July 6, 2009 — Proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy for 8 weeks induces
acid-related symptoms in healthy volunteers after withdrawal, according to
the results of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial reported in
the July issue of Gastroenterology.
"Rebound acid hypersecretion (RAHS) has been demonstrated after 8
weeks of treatment with a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI)," write Christina
Reimer, from Køge University Hospital, Copenhagen University in
Copenhagen, Denmark, and colleagues. "If RAHS induces acid-related
symptoms, this might lead to PPI dependency and thus have important
implications.“
