Environmental Engineering: Topic - Tsunami

This 3-sentence summary provides an overview of the key points from the document: The document defines a tsunami as a series of waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or large lake, and notes they are different from wind-generated waves or tidal patterns. It then lists underwater earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and meteor impacts as potential causes of tsunamis. Finally, it outlines some of the major effects of tsunamis such as destruction and damage, death and injury, financial loss, psychological problems, and environmental impacts.

water, generally in an ocean or a large lake
Tsunami is also known as a seismic sea wave.
Tsunami are sometimes referred to as tidal waves
Unlike normal ocean waves which are generated
by wind, or tides which are generated by the
gravitational pull of the Moon and Sun, a tsunami
