Recovery: Morning Report 21 Okt 2013

The document discusses definitions and models of recovery from mental illness. It describes Kraepelin and Bleuler's early pessimistic views of recovery from schizophrenia and possible improvement. More recent definitions see recovery as a journey towards living a meaningful life in the community. Key components of recovery include self-direction, empowerment, a holistic and non-linear approach, a strengths-based focus, peer support, respect, responsibility, and maintaining hope. Recovery is defined as both a process and an outcome, with the goal of overcoming barriers and living well.
