Objective of Project:
To
increase the socio economic

status of the Rural poor and
poverty reduction by wool and
meat production through Rabbit
farming.
Specific Objectives:
Poverty
reduction through Angora

Rabbit Wool and meat production.
To adopt Angora rabbit farming
as a business.
To create self employment and
income generation opportunities
in the province.
Angora Rabbit:
Its
wool is 6-8 times more warmer than Sheep.

Very prolific with gestation period of just 29
days.
Produce 25-30 kits per year under optimum
management.
Produce 1000-1800 gm of wool under ideal
management.
Can be reared on roughages with less quantity
of concentrate.
Vegetables and fruits can also be used.
Meat is rich in poly unsaturated fatty acids
and categorized as White meat.
Benefits of Angora
Farming:
Produce
6.4 times more wool than Sheep on per Kg

body weight basis.
Relatively easy, rewarding and takes less space.
Angora wool is finest, lightest and warmest amongst all
animal fibers.
High value woolen garments have got very good export
potential.
Wool has medicinal properties due to its electrostatic
nature.
Blending with other fibers further improves the quality.
Valuable additional source of income in hilly areas.
Quick return within 6 months of establishment of farm.
