Deconvolution: Presented By: Erwandi Yanto Pangaribuan 1606841244 Ronald H. Simanungkalit 1606841521

1. The document summarizes the basic concepts of seismic deconvolution, which is an inverse filtering technique used to compress the seismic wavelet and attenuate multiples. 2. Deconvolution aims to increase vertical resolution and approximately recover the earth's impulse response or reflectivity. 3. It can be applied before or after stack, and uses mathematical models of the source wavelet, noise, and Q-effect to modify the seismic trace.

Deconvolution Approaches
Decon is normally applied before stack (DBS). But it is sometimes is applied after
stack (DAS) The term deconvolution is most often applied to a type of inverse filtering.

a type of
deconvolution
often applied to
marine data.

corrects for inelastic

attenuation by
dividing the input into
relatively narrow
frequency bandwidths
and applying AGC
to each.

uses the redundancy

of multifold data to
statistically
determine and
attenuate effects on
signal waveform that
occur in the vicinity
of each source and
receiver position.

develops
mathematical
models for the source
wavelet, noise, and
the Q-effect.

Deconvolution Summary

If decon were completely successful in

compressing the wavelet components and
attenuating multiples it would leave only
the reflectivity of the earth on the seismic
trace.

In so doing, vertical resolution is increased

and earth impulse response or reflectivity is
approximately recovered.
