Longan fruit has medicinal value in tonifying the heart and spleen, replenishing qi and blood, and promoting a calm state of mind according to traditional Chinese medicine. Analysis using HPLC-ESI-MS identified 17 phenolic compounds in longan fruit including monogalloyl-glucose, gallic acid, epicatechin oligomers, procyanidins, digalloyl derivatives, quercetin glycosides, methyl ellagic acid glucopyranoside, ellagic acid conjugates, rutin and leucoanthocyanidins.

diglucose, epicatechin pentamer, digalloyl-glucose,
galloyl-HHDP-glucopyranose, procyanidin A-type dimer,
quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside, epicatechin trimer,
quercetion 3-O-glycoside, methyl ellagic acid
glucopyranoside, ellagic acid-pentose conjugate, rutin,
ellagic acid, and leucoanthocyanidins
