Shape Task

Shape Task

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
The first image was created by only using shapes that hadn't been
warped therefore I couldnt get the exact shape that I wanted but in
the first image I like how simplistic and cartoony the image looked.
As well as this in the first image I like how I used the outer shadow
effect this gives the image more depth. In the second image I like
how the image was more curved because of the warping effect which
was used on the second image. In the second image I also like how I
have devolved the fins by adding a secondary shape to increase the
depth as well as the detail.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would first use the warp effect from the
beginning as this would of allowed me to edit and create more
diverse shapes which would of increase the detail which I could
ultimately use in the image. In the second image to improve this I
would of added more effects in order to make the image more
realistic.

Rotoscope

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
In my image I like how I created the face as I believe that I managed to
capture all the important face features in order to make the image look like
the original image. When rotoscoping I liked creating the facial features and
the another thing I liked about the image was how I created the beard as this
required many different rotoscoped image combine as in many places it was
hard to get all of the beard in one rotoscope, and I believe the beard is clear
and bold, this is why I like the beard.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would first add a background to the character as this
would of given the image more depth as well as this it would allow the
character to stand out and become more prominent in the image. Secondly if I
was to do this again I would improve the image by adding texture effects to
the hair and the face as this would allow make the image more detailed and to
add this texture effect I would find and existing texture I wanted to used and
then potentially colourise and then apply a clipping mask and lower the
opacity as this would give a slight but noticeable texture.

Film Quotes

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
In this image I like how I have incorporated the text colour with the
image colour scheme and the words Ordinary Men are used In a
more distinct white colour as this makes these words stand out, as
this is the importance of the message portrayed throughout the film.
In the image I also like the text font used as the font used is very
militaristic which follow the continuity of the image as well as this the
font is bold which helps the text stand out.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would experiment more with the cutout
effect on the main image as now looking back on the image I would
now of made the image more abstract by using less complexity in the
effect and then I could of used a secondary image and used the
threshold effect then multiply the two images which would create a
more abstract image.

Text Based

Text Based

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
In the first text based image I like how I used the clipping mask effect
to give the text more depth as well as this the clipping mask also
makes the the text stand out more compared to the second image
where there is no clipping mask although in the second image I have
used different effects one of these is the use of the distort effect this
allowed me to manipulate the text in creating the shape that I
wanted. On both images I have used the stroke effect and this also
helps the image stand out and I did this because I wanted to make
text more bold.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would improve my work by adding a more
distinct drop shadow effected to the first image as well as this I would
of also increase the perspective effected used on the text in order to
make it the effect more affective.

Comic Book

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
In my images I liked how I tried to make the images patriotic and I especially
like this in the image with the flag as this images was completely in black
and white apart from the flag and this makes the flag stand out completely,
and in the other images I have highlighted the colours of the kits which also
stand out a lot. I like the cutout effect used as in some of the images I have
made the cutout effect very simplistic and because of this I would implement
and adding the threshold effect so that I could add the facial effects.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would improve the images by adding more colour to
the image with the flag instead of just the flag, I would add colour outside
and to improve I would colourize the outside of the character in the colour of
the flag. As well as this I would improve the way that I did the cartoon effect
on the kits and especially of the first one as the whole kit wasnt coloured
which now looking back at the image I feel like I should of coloured the
whole kit.

Photo Story

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
In my image I like the poster edges effect that I had used on my
image this gave the photos a more cartoony effect. In the image I
also like that I had but the photos in different shapes I like this
because this give the overall image a more stereotypical cartoony
effect and this is exactly what I was trying to achieve in this image.
The stroke around the shapes was also something that I liked
because it makes the shapes more bold and this also give the overall
more image more depth as well as this it makes the individual
pictures stand out.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would improve upon the colours used as all
the colours are dark and in more stereotypical cartoons they use
more vibrant colours, as well as this I would of improve the images by
using individual effect on each image in order to make each image
stand out and not be the similar.

Illustration

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
From my illustration I like the way that in the image I immediately
used a crown as this was a symbol that he is King, as well as in the
image I also liked the cartoony style from the illustration. In the
image I also like the militaristic theme in clothing this helps portray
that he is a King.

What would you improve if you did it again?

If I was to do this again I would improve the shading from the image
as this would give the perception that the image is three dimensional,
which would ultimately make the image appear to have more depth.
The illustration could of also ben improved if the arms were the same
length and this is part due to my drawing ability. The drawing could of
also been improved by adding more stereotypical clothing such as a
cape to enhance that the character is a King.

arrative Environment

Evaluation
What did you like about your image?
From the Narrative environment image I like how the whole image is done on
the perceptive effect this make the image appear like its on an angle, as well
as this I like some of the textures used on the tress as this gives the tress
more depth, as well as this I also like the texture on the building as the brick
texture makes the building stand out but also it make the image look more
realistic. I also like the way the path was created as I liked using an old
wallpaper texture as this makes the image also look more abstract, and
because the wallpaper texture is so vague it doesnt take anything away from
the main image of the building.

What would you improve if you did it again?

To improve my image I would reduce the amount of texture used on the
overall image as in some case now looking back on the image look out of
place and are to bold, one of these is the left hand side of the tree as now this
make the tree look to bold in my opinion. I would also change the way I have
used the stroke on the roof of the building as now I also think this makes this
way to bold.

Production Methods
To create my children's book I will be using rotoscoping as this
allows me to create simple characters and objects, as well as
rotoscoping, I will also be using some shapes in order to create the
landscape for the background as due to my story being very rural
this is important to the reader in order to make the reader have a
more immersive experience.

Audience
My audience will be women with children as they are most likely to
purchase the book for their child, acording to my research. The
research also shows that the upper class is more likely to purchase
a childrens book compared to a middle class person. The book also
needs to be targeted at children so do this my book will be simple
but sleek in order to meet the needs of my audience. The audience
has a range of interests such as drama, dancing, Television and
many others.

What are the strengths of the proposal?

What areas of the proposal need further work?

Detailed. The story overview is detailed and

clear to understand which gives an easy idea of
what is to be expected.
You have a very clear idea of what the book is
going to look like which will act as a strength
when moving forward within the project.

When talking about audience, talk more about

the age of the children and what you are going
to include in the book (colours, amount of text,
pictures etc.) that is going to be beneficial for
the children and how they will interpret it.

What are the strengths of the idea generation?

What areas of idea generation could have been

further developed?

With your chosen idea you have created a

detailed and successful mind map organising
each section of the film such as characters,
scenes and locations which makes it easy for
others who are unknown of your story to
interpret everything and create an image of
what it will look like in their mind.

Need more photos in mood board. Two mood

boards, one for character and one for setting.
Expand idea generation to show you have
thought about different possible ideas for your
book.

What are the strengths of the proposal?

What areas of the proposal need further work?

There is a clear understanding of the storyline

because it is well described and thought out. A
strong description of why they have chosen that
audience, this helps to create the book for that
specific demographic. There is a clear description
of their production methods and why they have
chosen to do that specific method.

Needs more work on the actual characteristics of

the audience. Include descriptions of their class,
ethnicity and locations. Possibly explain how the
production techniques will link to the interests of
children and how it will appeal to them.

What are the strengths of the idea generation?

What areas of idea generation could have been

further developed?

Really detailed mind map with good explanations

and descriptions. Ideas presented clearly and gives
a clear indication of the overall
appearance/storyline of the book.

Add images to the mind map to really put forth your

ideas. For example you could include images of
your colour palette, characters, and some small
illustrations of your descriptions. The mood board
needs more work, add more images and present
them in a more creative way. You could add text
examples and colour palettes to add more depth to
the mood board. This will also help presented
ideas in a more detailed way. Add more description
to idea generation, i.e. plot summary or book
covers.

What are the strengths of the proposal?

What areas of the proposal need further work?

The proposal is detailed and clear to understand.

You have explained about your target audience
well. You have spoke about good methods of
production making in great detail.

Talk about other tools and methods you may be

using in the making of your book. To improve your
audience box you could add more information like
the age range of the audience and their interests.

What are the strengths of the idea generation?

What areas of idea generation could have been

further developed?

you have noted the key point of the stories you

have researched so far in you idea generation. You
have included a lot of important detail in the mind
map.

To improve your idea generation you could

research more stories to give you a wider range of
choices to choose from. For the mood board you
can add more pictures and colour charts to show
what colour scheme youre going for, bold colour
scheme or a dull colour scheme. You could also
add font examples to show you ideas of what you
want the font to be.

Feedback Summary
Sum up your feedback.
The feedback I received was good as it showed clearly what I needed
to improve on and because of this I can now add more information to
parts which my peers believed needed improving. In my proposal my
story outline was praised because they believe that it was very
detailed.
Which parts of your feedback do you agree with and why?
I agreed with the feedback that suggested that I needed to add more
detail to my mood board and because of this I will add more slides
regarding the characters appearance the location and the style of the
book. The parts I also agreed with was that they thought my story
outline was good and I agree as I believe it cover the main story well in
high detail.
Which parts of your feedback do you disagree with and why?
The parts of the feedback I disagreed with was that I needed to
describe my idea generation process better although I thought that it
was good by just listing potential stories I was going to use.

Original Script
The origins of Pickering are rather colourfully recounted in an old
myth, which tells us that it was established by a king named Peredurus
around 270 BC. According to the legend, Peredurus lost his ring. He
accused a young woman of stealing it, though in fact it had fallen into
the River Costa, where it was swallowed by a pike. By chance the pike
was caught that same day and cooked for the king's dinner. When the
ring was found, the king married the young woman.
