(Group 1) Hardware and Peripheral

This document discusses computer hardware and peripherals. It defines hardware as the physical components of a computer system, as opposed to software which are sets of instructions. It identifies the main internal hardware components as the computer case, power supply, motherboard, CPU, and RAM. Peripherals are devices connected to but not part of the core computer. Peripherals can be internal, connected via ports, or external, connected outside the computer case. Common peripherals include input devices, output devices, and storage.

HARDWARE (DEFINITION)
A computer system consists of two major elements:
hardware and software.

Computerhardwareis the collection of all the parts

you can physically touch.

Computersoftware, on the other hand, is not

something you can touch.

Software is a set of instructions for a computer to

perform specific operations.

All peripherals are hardware, but not all hardware

are peripherals.

HARDWARE (COMPONENTS)
The hardwares that are not peripherals are the
case, the power supply, and the motherboard.

Case is ahouses most of the components. All

computer component will be surround by the case.

Power supply unit (PSU) converts alternating

current (AC) electric power to low-voltage DC
power for the internal components of the
computer.

The motherboard is the main component of

computer. All of the component connect to the
motherboard.

Component connect to the motherboard; CPU,RAM, and the disk

drives.

CPU enable a computer to function, and is sometimes referred to

as the brain of the computer.

RAM stores the code and data that are being actively accessed
by the CPU.

INTRODUCTION
Peripheral is a device that connected to
a computer but is not part of the core
computer architecture.
The abilities of a computer can be
improved by adding a peripheral
devices.
A peripheral is a piece of computer
hardware.
A peripheral devices is that they are
dependant on the computer system.
These devices can be differentiate from
the way it is connected to the computer
which are by internally or externally.

OUTPUT DEVICE

Translate information stored in the computer and present in the way

that human can understand it.

INPUT DEVICE

Parts that bring information to the computer. This devise translate

human language to electric signal.

STORAGE
A piece of computer
equipment on which
information can be stored.

EXTERNAL

INTERNAL

Device located inside the computer case

Device located outside of the computer case

Connected through parallel port, Ethernet, USB and MIDI.

Also known as integrated peripheral.

CD-ROM drive
Internal zip drive
Graphics card
RAM
