Honors Courses/Some Math and Science

Courses (for both Freshmen and Sophomores)
You need to be recommended by your current teacher
(they base recommendations off of your grades so far)
You must still qualify with your final grade at the end of
the year
If you do not qualify because your grade dropped, your
schedule will be rearranged by your counselor (this means
some electives may be changed)

Freshmen to schedule for

Sophomore Year
For example, if you have Honors English II AND English II listed, that

means that you were recommended to take Honors English II.

You may decline and take English II.
Please, discuss with your parents, teacher or school counselor if you are
undecided and then mark whichever box appropriately.
If you have only English II listed, please check the box next to English
II.
If you believe there is a mistake and you should be in Honors English II,
the first step is to speak with your current teacher in that subject area.

Sophomores to Schedule for

Junior Year
For example, if you have Honors English III AND English III listed, that

means that you were recommended to take Honors English III.

You may decline and take English III.
Please, discuss with your parents, teacher or school counselor if you are
undecided and then mark whichever box appropriately.
If you have only English III listed, please check the box next to English
III.
If you believe there is a mistake and you should be in Honors English III,
the first step is to speak with your current teacher in that subject area.

Theology
This course is scheduled automatically for
all NC students
If you fail either semester of Theology, you
will be forced to complete it the following
year in place of an elective
This means, you will be taking two
Theology courses simultaneously

Math
If you have more than one option, we recommend that you
talk with your teacher for their recommendation.
Double scheduling If you are eligible to take Algebra
2/Trig AND Honors Geometry, you can elect to take both
OR only Honors Geometry
Math Modeling this can be taken as a math elective on
top of another math course, or it can be an option if you
are not comfortable moving on to Pre-calculus or Calculus
Senior year (please seek advice from teacher on this)

Science
Science is based on current grades in Science AND Math
It is recommended that you wait to take Physics until your
Senior year
(Sophomores) Environmental Science courses are only 1
semester, so most students sign up for both
Environmental Science is sometimes selected as an
elective in addition to another science course
(Freshmen) I will talk about this

Social Studies

Freshmen you will be taking

Government and Economics next
year
Sophomores you will be taking
World History next year

Foreign Language
Looking at the honors diplomayou
need 3 years of one language or 2/2.
To obtain college credit, you must
be approved for funding or pay outof pocket.
