Component Overview

Transactional App Type

- 21 -

Strawman_JS_041414_V1.pptx

These apps let you perform

transactional tasks, such as
creating a leave request for an
employee. They represent
simplified views and interaction
with existing business processes
and solutions. They run best on
an SAP HANA database, but can
also be ported to other databases
with acceptable performance.

These apps display contextual

information and key facts about central
objects used in your business
operations. Fact sheets are designed
to be intuitive and harmonized. From a
fact sheet area (tile), you can drill down
into its details. You can easily navigate
from one fact sheet to its related fact
sheets..
From fact sheets, you can start
transactions by navigating to
transactional apps, or by accessing the
back-end system directly. For example,
from a document fact sheet, you can
access the back-end system to display
document details or to edit the
document in SAP GUI or Web Dynpro.
Desktop only
Fact sheets apps run on HANA and the
ABAP stack.
- 22 -

Strawman_JS_041414_V1.pptx

Fact Sheet App Type

These apps let you get a role-based

insight into real-time operations of your
business by collecting and displaying
key figures directly in your browser.
They can be SAP Smart Business
applications but can also be other
analytical, predictive, and planning
applications. Analytical apps combine
the data and analytical power of SAP
HANA with the integration and interface
components of SAP Business Suite.
They provide real-time information on
large volume data in a simplified front
end for enterprise control. With SAP
Smart Business, you can closely
monitor your most important key
performance indicators (KPIs) in real
time and react immediately on changes
in market conditions or operations.
These apps use Smart Business KPI
Framework or HANA Live and XS

Fiori Launchpad Day 1

How to add apps to Fiori Launchpad

Deloitte Consulting LLP

What is Launchpad ?

Launchpad components
What is Launchpad?
SAP Fiori Launchpad is the entry point to Fiori apps on mobile or desktop devices.
First of all, the Launchpad displays various tiles. Tiles are rectangular objects that provide
access to applications. Which tiles are displayed on a users entry page depends on the users
role. Depending on the role, the user can choose from a wide choice of ready-to-use tiles from
the tile catalog as part of the Launchpad personalization.
Catalogue
It defines the set of all tiles that users can use to personalize the home page.
Group
Are predefined application categorized together. We can enter different tiles to a group from a
catalog. These groups can be assigned to PFCG roles, these roles are in turn assigned to
users.
Launchpad Designer
Launchpad Designer can be used to configure your catalogs and groups from the front end.
And can be launched in a number of browsers.

Steps to add new apps

To open Launchpad designer:

Once you are on the designer, you can select to Create a new catalog by clicking on the + sign on the bottom.
Provide a suitable Title and ID, and you are good to go.

Steps to add new apps

Now that you have your catalog ready, you add tiles to your catalog. These tiles correspond to the
apps you want visible in this catalog. Select App Launch Static to create a simple Manager
approval app.

Heres how the tile would look like once added to the catalog. You can customize the tile, for the
app you need to add.

Steps to add new apps

If you click on the tile, you can see the details that can be modified for a particular app.
Add the relevant title and the target URL for the Manager Leave approval app

Steps to add new apps
