RADIO WAVES

Radio waves are a form of

electromagnetic waves at
radio frequency in the
electromagnetic spectrum.

APPLICATIONS
Waves
WAVELENGTH
Low ( LF )
30-300 kHz

Long Wave
1.500 m

Long wave radio and

AM Radio

High ( HF )
3 MHz-30 MHz

Short Wave

Short wave radio and

communication,
amateur radio

Very High ( VHF )

30-300 MHz

Very Short Wave

emergency service

Ultra High ( UHF)

300 MHz-3 GHz

Ultra Short Wave

ELECTROMAGNETIC
SPECTRUM

This signal is
combined with
the other signals
which is quickly
vibrating

This combined
signals are
converted into
radio waves and
then emitted
through antenna

Spread through the

air and captured by
the receiver

Tuner circuit
filter the radio
waves

Microphone converts
sound waves into
electrical signal

Electrical signal is
converted into sound
waves

HOW RADIO WAVES ARE PRODUCED

Am & FM

Amplitude Modulation
Reflected by the ionosphere so it has a
wide range. Frequency (530 kHz 1600 kHz)

Frequency Modulation
Not reflected by the ionosphere
so it has a narrow range.

FOUNDER OF
RADIO WAVES
James Clerk Maxwell said
that electromagnetic
waves propagate other
with the speed of light.
For the first time
electromagnetic waves
had been made
systematically.
James Clerk Maxwell
1831 - 1879

FOUNDER OF
RADIO WAVES
David E. Hughes was the
first to transmit and
receive radio waves
when he found
disruption to phone

FOUNDER OF
RADIO WAVES
Heinrich Rudolf Hertz
producing and
measuring the radio
waves in the
laboratory, adding
evidence to the ideas
Maxwell.
Heinrich Rudolf Hertz
1857-1894

FOUNDER OF
RADIO WAVES
Edward Howard
Armstrong is the
inventor of radio waves
and an American
electrical engineer.
Armstrong was the
inventor of modern
frequency modulation
(FM) radio.

1890-1954

Conclusion
Radio waves are electromagnetic
waves which one has the longest
wavelength and the lowest
frequency. Its formed when
electrically charged object of
wave oscillator (carrier wave)
modulated by the audio waves
with a lower frequency of the
radio signal. Usually used in
communications.
