Levels of Thinking

According to Blooms Taxonomy, he distinguishes 6 levels of thinking as the


following pyramid:

Short Biography

Dr. Benjamin Bloom was born in February, 12 of 1913


and past away September, 13 of 1999.

He was an American educational psychologist who


proposed a theoretical ranking of the levels of thinking
that people use.

Before Starting

We have focused this presentation in general for


everyone, However in the way of how to
encourage the different levels, we gave advices
for children.

The first two levels are used by infants and


toddlers

Knowledge

It consists of acquiring basic pieces of information,


therefore is the simple learning of dates and facts.

Verbs of this level:

Define

Name

Response to when?, where? Or who?

Encouraging Knowledge

Asking children to Identify and describe

Comprehension

This levels involves looking at the meaning of the knowledge that has been
gathered.

The person can explain whit their own words and compare with other
ideas.

Give examples

Encouraging Comprehension

Makin good questions to children like the gray stone

Applying

It consists in breaking in parts something and explaining to oneself .

build or make something can foster this level of
thinking.

Taking something learned apart into separate components
for purposes of thinking about the parts and how they
fit together.

Asking children what materials could be used for a


particular classroom project.

Synthesizing
Generating or creating something different by assembling
or connecting ideas in a way that makes a whole.

Asking children how to use an array of materials to


create, develop something.

Evaluating
Looking at the particular value of materials, information or
methods in characterizing the whole.

Asking children which of the materials that they used


worked better.
