A means of connecting a computer to any other computer
anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers. When
two computers are connected over the Internet, they can send
and receive all kinds of information such as text, graphics,
voice, video,
and computer
programs.
The Internet is a
global network connecting millions of computers. More than
100 countries are linked into exchanges of data, news and
opinions. According to Internet World Stats, as of December
31, 2011 there was an estimated 2,267,233,742 Internet users
worldwide. The number of Internet users represents 32.7
percent of the world's population.

Device that enables computers to communicate through
phone lines. Computer information is stored digitally,
whereas information transmitted over telephone lines is

Intranet is an internal network. It is used by companies to
connect their computers on a network. It is a network
based on TCP/IP protocols (an internet) belonging to an
organization, usually a corporation, accessible only by the
organization's members, employees, or others with
authorization. An intranet's Web sites look and act just like
any other Web sites, but the firewall surrounding an
intranet fends off unauthorized access.

vendors, suppliers, current and potential customers, etc.
