Procedure of chemical cleaning Tank wagon by application of
detergent::- Tank wagons are given steam cleaning as and when required. The tank wagons can also cleaned by application of chemical detergent and the following procedure should be followed;- (a) Remove the manhole cover with diaphragm valve exist and check the inside condition of the tank and type of oil slug (white or black) by swing a hand torch or minors lamp in non naked condition is to be used for this purpose. (b) Remove the stop valve for easy draining. (c) Spray about 20 Liters of K.Oil Gr-III thoroughly by a sprayer inside the tank wagon through the manhole opening. In case of white oil sludge spraying of K.Oil may not be essential in all cases and will depend on the condition of the tank. wait for 30 minutes for the K.Oil dissolve with the sludge. (d) Take about Four (4) kgs. Of oil detergent and mixed with cold water in ration 1:5 and spray this mixture thoroughly inside the tank through the manhole by the sprayer, wait for about one hour for the detergent to dissolve the sludge. (e) Then clean the tank thoroughly with water jet having sufficient water pressure.
f) For tank wagon which will require manual work inside the tank for undertaking repair, fill up the tank with water for ensuring the tank is gas free. g) Drain out the water and conduct bottle test before undertaking repair inside the tank. h) Tool required for chemical cleaning :- 1) One sprayer 20 Liters capacity with nozzle suitable to spraying at a distance 30 Ft. 2)Spanner double ended inch x5/8 inch -2Nos 3 )Hammer ball pan 2 Lbs 1No 4)Hand wheel for operating Main Valve spindle 2 Nos 5)Washing Brush with handle 1Nos I) Deployment of staff - 02 Nos ( Technician and unskilled) are required to be deployed for 8 Hrs.for cleaning one 4 wheeler tank wagon by the application of detergent.
