For all other transformers high velocity water spray system shall be provided. This system shall be separately mounted and designed to take into account the possibility of a transformer explosion. 8.8.3 Fire barriers walls shall be provided between transformers where they are less than 15 m apart or where the oil capacity exceeds 2 000 litres. 7.8.6* Transformers. Oil-filled main, station service, and start-up transformers not meeting separation or fire barrier recommendations in 5.2.4 or as determined by the fire risk evaluation should be protected with automatic water spray or foam-water spray systems. 7.8.7* Spatial separation of transformers and other equipment containing over 500 gal (1890 L) of oil should be in accordance with 5.2.4. Individual equipment and cabinet protection could be considered in lieu of total flooding systems. 10 Nalin C 5.
