The document describes the process of drawing a distance amplitude correction (DAC) curve, which is used to establish acceptance criteria for ultrasonic testing. It involves calibrating an ultrasonic flaw detector using a calibration block, then taking reference readings from a reference block to create distance and echo height points for plotting the DAC curve. Measurements are taken at different distances and angles from holes in the blocks to account for sound path differences and create a standard for evaluating test results.

Drawing of DAC curve
What is DAC curve?
DAC curve is a distance amplitude correction curve. It is drawn for knowing the acceptance criteria.
The equipment require are Ultrasonic flaw detector Probes Normal probe Angle probe Cables couplants In calibration with v2 block we do, Setting the machine Finding the probe index piont True Angle conformation
Setting the machine Set the machine at required velocities and range. zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 Initially you may not get the echo at exact location So, by adjusting the zero button move the echo to Required location zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 By placing the angle probe we will get the echoes at 25 & 100mm. because sound travels first to 25mm and returns. here our crystal receives the sound and gives the echo on the screen. After that the sound travels to the 50mm and returns. and our crystal will not receive the sound since the crystal is facing parallel so again the sound travels to the 25mm and receives ,so total 75mm our echo traveled so it is showing at 25 and 25+75=100mm zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 By moving the probe to and fro catch the highest echo zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 This is my highest echo zero vel delay db 3250 Menu 1 range 100 25 50 75 100 Now see the probe index point.
