Employee productivity is important for all organizations and is measured by output over input. There are many factors that influence productivity including worker skill, motivation, job methods, quality of work, innovation, equipment, and management effectiveness. Measuring productivity provides benefits like increased labor productivity, improved employee utilization and retention, and greater operational control. Productivity of staff can be measured by sales per square foot of selling space, sales per linear foot of shelving, sales per transaction, and sales per employee.
