INTERNSHIP Dawlance ( URIL)

PROGRAMMED BY; SIR SYED UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY SUBMITTED TO: Human Resource Department SUBMITTED BY: Syed Muhammad Jahanzaib
(2010-EE-364) Muhammad Waleed (2010-EE-353) Asad Mustafa (2010-EE-352)

This report contains the information about the departments, machineries and processes which are visited by the internees. Basically Dawlance (URIL) is quite attractive company. It provides opportunities to seek, to learn , to observe and experience about the machinery being used by them as well as the processes being performed by them. Dawlance have latest technology and hard working and very cooperative labor and staff.

First , we should know about moulding. What is moulding? A hollow container used to give shape to molten or hot liquid material when it cools and hardens. It is called moulding. At Dawlance, In moulding department, it has 52 machines which are converting the raw material of plastic to usable material of plastic. It sharpens the raw material of plastic named as PP stands for POLY PROPYLENE. At the stage of raw material PP(poly propylene) shapes like crystals somewhat or like small crystals of sugar. The moulding machines have large thermal injectors which melts the raw plastic and then it goes through the moving coupling plates. There are 2 types of plates Static plates which grips the plastic. Moving plates who give the shape to the molten material by moving.

In steel metal department, we observe there is nothing for us. All the machines there were working mechanically . there was nothing special to electronics. But let us tell you about the process being perform there by the machines. Heavy metal sheets were cutting, organizing in proper shapes and then forwarded to welding and shearing section where the organized sheets combine to form a proper metal body. This body then forwarded to coloring department. All the process there were mechanical only in welding department there was a PLC fixed which is controlling the heavy welding machine. PLC is a programmable logical controller used for electromechanical work.

CNC stands for computerized numeric controller . It is heavily used in many industries for cutting, bending and to take other work like it. It is controlled through a digital computer in which programming is fixed by the vendor ( company from where CNC is made). This programming may be changed or may not be changed. It depends on the type of company policy and our requirements and our real case scenarios. The computer with the CNC machine is not a general purpose computer. Its a special purpose computer only used for controlling the CNC machine. Like other big industries dawlance also has a CNC used for 3D cutting of aluminium metal to make hooks to clip in the refrigerator outside to close and open the door.

PAINTING SHOP
8

At painting shop, we saw the coloring of metal sheets in a large furnace. It is a very big process. Firstly, the metal sheets in organized shapes come through conveyor belt and then it go through the furnace. In furnace, first of all a chemical named meta phosphate strikes on the body through small guns and then water strikes on it ahead to clean the metal sheet or metal body. The metal used is aluminium. Then a person cleans the body and then it directed towards color section. Small color guns are fitted there for coloring and a person were also there to check whether the coloring performed by the automatic machines is doing its work properly. After color, this body forwarded to dry place where the temperature is almost from 150 to 200 where the color dried and transforms to a shiny surface as like a crystal.

After the process of coloring, the metallic body forwarded to liner department where the workers fixes the liners to the metallic body manually. The body placed on the conveyor and the conveyor is moving very slowly at the speed of 1m/s after a very short delay. The workers work very fastly as they miss somewhere the entire production gets interrupted. Liner is a plastic body fixed inside the refrigerator outfit. Mostly, it is white in color due to pigmentation.

HANGER 1
10

In hanger 1, there was only the fixing of cooling lines inside the refrigerator. These cooling lines look alike copper tubes but in real they are not made up of copper . These tubes composed of another material which transfers the coldness of freezer of fridge to the lower part of it. This work also performed by the workers manually.

HANGER 2
11

Hanger 2 is the next part and area of hanger 1. In hanger 2, the process of foaming is performed with the help of heavy electrical and mechanical machinery. It is a hazardous area and workers kept their selves aware of any mishap .

As from the name assembly, a image come through our mind that what the meaning of assemble ? Hmm.. Its means to collect the fragmented components . Like its mean it is quite similar to its process. At assembly line, all the fragmented components of a fridge/refrigerator align to fix here like compressor and gates of fridge etc. and here the entire process of refrigeration completed and the fridge is ready to send to other distributions and other traders.
