In 1937, Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the worlds first full-length, full-colour animated feature and the highest grossing animated movie of all time This was the first time when Disney sold a few Snow White products on the day of release Disney set a goal of releasing two feature films per year and a number of shorts Disney went public in 1940 Disney survived the lean years of WWII and the failure of a very costly movie by producing training and educational cartoons for the government. During the war Disney did not make any full-length features, but re-released Snow White for the first time in 1944
With the release of Treasure Island in 1950, Disney entered the live-action movie production To bolster the film business, Disney created Buena Vista Distribution in 1953 By eliminating distribution fees, Disney could save one third of the firms gross revenues Disney expanded its television presence in 1954 with ABCproduced Disneyland which was followed by Mickey Mouse Club Walt hoped that Disneyland would generate both financial and public interest in the huge outdoor entertainment park of the same name Walt passed away 1966
