Loud Omputing'': Presentation On

Cloud computing is defined as internet-based computing where shared resources, software, and information are provided on demand. Key characteristics include cost reduction, device and location independence, scalability, and security. Cloud computing offers benefits like reduced costs, increased storage, and flexibility, but also faces challenges around data recovery, availability, and regulatory compliance. In conclusion, cloud computing enables access to data from anywhere and shifts the focus from computers to users and tasks.

Cloud Computing

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing: Cloud computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided as a service to computers and other devices on-demand. Cloud Computing is a term in computer science used specifically to refer to advances in client-server technology that have occurred in the last decade. Cloud computing is a computing paradigm, where a large pool of systems are connected in private or public networks, to provide dynamically scalable infrastructure for application, data and file storage.

History:

In 1997, the first academic definition was provided by Ramanath K. Chellappa who called it a computing paradigm where the boundaries of computing will be determined by economic rationale rather than technical limits.

The term cloud had already come into commercial use in the early 1990s to refer to large Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks. In the early 2000s, Microsoft extended the concept of SaaS through the development of web services. In 2007, Google, IBM, and a number of universities embarked on a large scale cloud computing research project. On January 13, 2010, HP and Microsoft announced an agreement to invest $250 million over the next three years to significantly simplify technology environments via cloud computing.

Regulatory and Compliance Restrictions.

12

Conclusion
Cloud Computing enables a shift from the computer to the user, from applications to tasks, and from isolated data to data that can be accessed from anywhere and shared with anyone. Cloud computing offers real alternatives to IT departments for improved flexibility and lower cost. The user no longer needs to remember where the data is. All that matters is that the data is in the cloud, and its available to user. Markets are developing for the delivery of software applications, platforms, and infrastructure as a service to IT departments over the cloud. Good career opportunities.
